Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces that Eugene Kaspersky, founder and CEO of the company, will participate in the first World Cyber Security Summit (WCSS), held by the International Multilateral Partnership Against Cyber-Terrorism (IMPACT), the global initiative against cyber-terrorism. The WCSS will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on May 20-23, 2008.
The World Cyber Security Summit is a ministerial-level forum for government ministers, industry leaders, technology luminaries and international cyber-security experts from more than 40 countries. As the official launch event for the global IMPACT initiative, the WCSS represents the largest gathering ever on cyber-terrorism and security.
The first IMPACT Summit will be chaired by Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and includes government representatives from more than 40 countries, as well as top managers of the world’s major cyber-security companies and prominent expert members of IMPACT’s International Advisory Board (IAB). Eugene Kaspersky will share his vision on the global security landscape, current trends in the fight against global cybercrime and emerging threats that the world will face in the nearest future.
By the time Kaspersky Lab joined IMPACT in May 2006, Eugene Kaspersky had already been calling for a joint global initiative against cybercrime for several years. Eugene Kaspersky has accepted the invitation to be a member of the inaugural International Advisory Board of IMPACT, which reflects its appreciation of the company’s expertise in the area of combating terrorist activities in the IT industry.
“IMPACT is a unique initiative started by the Malaysian authorities and aimed primarily at consolidating the efforts of the world’s governments and the IT community in combating the emerging threat of cyber-terrorism. Like all forms of terrorism, cyber-terrorism does not recognize borders or laws, even though the global economy’s dependence on electronic communication means that the threat of cyber-terrorism is real. With 19 years’ experience in combating malicious programs and activities, and being a recognized technological leader in the antivirus industry, Kaspersky Lab is prepared to take an active part in the work of IMPACT in order to make a meaningful contribution to protecting the world community against this emerging global threat,” said Eugene Kaspersky, CEO of Kaspersky Lab.
