Kaspersky is strengthening its presence and extending its footprint in the Asia-Pacific region, appointing a new General Manager for Southeast Asia (SEA) to lead a stronger push in the region, as well as making new, long-term investments in Vietnam. Effective October 21, Simon Tung leads the company’s strategic direction and business operations across the SEA region, focusing on empowering organizations and governments to navigate an increasingly complex threat landscape.
Equipped with over three decades of extensive experience in the technology sector and a proven track record of building and scaling businesses across Asia Pacific, Simon will oversee all commercial operations, business development, and go-to-market strategies for SEA. His primary focus will be on accelerating growth, building key partnerships, and enhancing the delivery of Kaspersky’s innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of its customers and partners.
“The digital potential of Southeast Asia is immense, but it is contingent on trust and security. Kaspersky has unparalleled global expertise in threat intelligence and a robust portfolio to address these very challenges, which is why I am excited to lead this team and build stronger regional partnerships,” comments Simon Tung, General Manager for Southeast Asia at Kaspersky. “My focus will be on translating our global expertise into local impact, which means investing deeply in our team, strengthening our partner ecosystem, and ensuring our solutions address the unique challenges businesses face here."
This leadership appointment comes at a critical time for the digital economy in SEA, where rapid digitalization is matched by a surge in sophisticated cyberattacks. To help organizations curb this trend, Kaspersky is pursuing additional long-term investments in the region and is strengthening the company’s presence and market footprint in Vietnam by opening a permanent office in the country.
The new office is located in Ho Chi Minh City and serves as a local coordination hub, allowing Kaspersky to better address the urgent needs of the market, where Kaspersky has been present for the past 17 years. This local presence provides strategic visibility and strengthens the company’s partnership with government agencies, enterprises, and research organizations, to understand the cybersecurity challenges and opportunities unique to Vietnam.
With this foundation, Kaspersky plans to invest further in developing local engineering capabilities and technical programs. These initiatives include partner training, expertise sharing from Kaspersky’s global research centers, and collaborative projects that connect Vietnam with regional and international cybersecurity expertise. Just recently, Kaspersky has signed an MoU with the People’s Security Academy (PSA) of Vietnam, strengthening the company’s commitment to cybersecurity education for the next generation of students.
Kaspersky’s continued investment in Vietnam and the SEA region reflects a broader vision where cybersecurity becomes the engine of digital trust and innovation. As technologies evolve and economies grow more connected, the company aims to help shape a future where every digital advance is built on security, transparency, and resilience.
