Kaspersky and Mayor’s Office of Bogotá sign MoU to strengthen city’s cybersecurity

May 19, 2026

Kaspersky and the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish closer cooperation and enhance the city’s cybersecurity ecosystem. The organizations have agreed to promote joint initiatives in the fields of cyber capacity building, digital literacy raising, threat intelligence sharing, and critical infrastructure protection.

The official MoU signing ceremony took place at Bogotá Alcaldía on Friday, May 15, and was attended by the representatives of both Kaspersky and the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá. This included Kaspersky founder and CEO Eugene Kaspersky, Daniela Alvarez de Lugo, General Manager, Northern Latin America (NOLA), at Kaspersky, and Diana Celis Mora, Bogotá's ICT Office Counselor.

Through the collaboration with the Colombia Capital District, Kaspersky has reinforced its commitment to the region by providing technical capabilities and international expertise to help organizations and citizens tackle an ever-evolving digital threat landscape. As Bogotá has made significant progress in digitizing public services and expanding connectivity, the city needed stronger protection for essential services and a greater institutional and citizen preparedness against digital risks.

The alliance will be implemented through four concrete lines of action:

  • Technical training: Kaspersky will provide cybersecurity training programs for Capital District officials and ICT teams both virtually and in person, with the goal of strengthening local talent and improving preparedness against digital incidents.
  • Citizen awareness: Digital literacy initiatives will be developed, based on the content, created by Kaspersky Expertise Centers teams, who research new digital threats daily and respond to real-life cyber incidents.
  • Threat intelligence: Both parties will share technical information regarding cyberattacks affecting Bogotá. Kaspersky will provide the agency with access to the company’s world-class Threat Intelligence data on the threat landscape around the world.
  • Critical infrastructure: Kaspersky will contribute technical expertise to support the development of cybersecurity frameworks and standards applicable to critical infrastructure in the Capital District and, where appropriate, across the country.

Representing the company’s first memorandum of cooperation in the country, the agreement marks a milestone for Kaspersky presence in Colombia, which has served as the company’s business hub for Northern Latin America since the opening of its office and Transparency Center in Bogotá in 2024.

Daniela Alvarez de Lugo, General Manager, NOLA, at Kaspersky, stated: “Cooperation with the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá represents an important step forward in our joint fight against cybercrime in Latin America and marks a pivotal point for our local operations: it is Kaspersky’s first memorandum of collaboration in the country. Through this agreement, we will exchange threat intelligence information affecting the territory and the citizens of Bogotá, with the aim of strengthening digital protection. Since cybercriminals know no borders, collaboration between the public and private sectors is the best strategy to build a safer world for people, businesses, and governments.”

For Bogotá, protecting the city means protecting our people. This alliance reminds us that technology can also be an act of care: a commitment so that every family, every business, and every citizen can live and navigate with greater confidence in their city,” said Diana Celis Mora, Bogotá’s ICT District Counselor.
