Kaspersky Lab announces that Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010 has once again been awarded the prestigious VB100 accolade from the authoritative British magazine Virus Bulletin.
Full details of the comparative tests that saw the Kaspersky Lab solution come out ahead of its rivals have been published in the April edition of Virus Bulletin. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010 recorded a very impressive RAP rating of 90%, a measure of the reactive and proactive detection abilities (RAP) of products using a single antivirus engine.
Whilst running in 'on-demand' and 'real-time' protection modes, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010 managed to neutralise all of the malware samples from the WildList collection, all of the polymorphic viruses used in the test, and more than 98% of the worms and bots. To make the achievement even more outstanding, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010 did not generate a single false positive throughout the entire test.
"Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010 is noticeable for its intuitive, error-free and easily navigable interface and for the low demands it makes on the processor," the magazine states. "The detection levels demonstrated by Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010 proved to be excellent right across the board. Its remarkable stability in the reactive part of the RAP index confirms Kaspersky Lab's reputation as one of the leaders when it comes to responding quickly to new malware threats."

The reactive and proactive protection testing was performed on a Windows XP platform running Service Pack 3. Sixty antivirus solutions were evaluated in the test. The WildList collection consisted of several thousand of the most popular malware programs and was created prior to 20th February 2010.
