The amount of spam emails containing malware doubled during August according to Kaspersky Lab, who has just announced the publication of its Monthly Spam Statistics for August 2010.
Kaspersky Lab has contributed such considerable growth to the fact that in summer, the number of spammers' clients around the world decreased and many spammers used botnets to distribute "partner" spam, including emails with malicious attachments. These latest figures see America maintain its leadership as the country responsible for 15.5 per cent of the total volume of spam distributed over the last four weeks.
The August report also identified cybercriminals' huge loss of interest in targeting Facebook, with the quantity of attacks on the social network ten times less than the previous month's figure.
