Kaspersky Anti-Virus wins award from French magazine PC Direct. The month of September has brought Kaspersky Lab yet another victory; this time the editorial staff of the popular French publication PC Direct awarded Kaspersky Anti-Virus 4.0. Two perpetual problems plaguing all computer users - viruses and hackers - compelled PC Direct to conduct a combined test of anti-virus and firewall solutions for home users. Competing against Kaspersky Anti-Virus were Norton AntiVirus 2002 (Symantec), PC-Cillin 9 (Trend Micro), McAfee VirusScan Panda Antivirus Titanium. According to PC Direct, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 4.0 is the nearest to an ideal anti-virus program with its combination of effective defense, high speed operation and convenient user interface. PC Direct also noted Kaspersky Anti-Virus 4.0's variety of built-in anti-virus modules ensuring the defense of personal computers as well as its traditionally high rate of detecting malicious code. Despite PC Direct's admitted error regarding the settings used for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 4.0 during testing (virus check for zip and executable files was not turned on), the program still turned in excellent results and received the magazines award as the most effective anti-virus product.
