In its Russian edition, the respected computer publication PC Magazine has published the results of a comparative test conducted amongst various antivirus software developer products. According to the results, two Kaspersky® Anti-Virus versions for home users, Personal and Personal Pro, received the highest marks from the magazine's editorial staff.
Other anti-virus developers chosen for participation in the tests along with Kaspersky Anti-Virus were Symantec, McAfee, Panda, Trend Micro, Command and DialogueScience. The main criteria for the anti-virus testing were effectiveness and productivity. Amongst the other anti-virus features given a mark were ease of installation, documentation and service, and the program interface. The test was prepared by PC Magazine's US testing lab, eTesting Labs, and was adapted to the Russian market for the purposes of testing at the Russian edition of the magazine.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal and Personal Pro demonstrated excellent results in detecting viruses, and also in the areas of operating speed and low resource requirements. Kaspersky Anti-Virus also earned a high mark for documentation, both in overall testing and for the quality of polygraphic performance.
However, the main advantages of Kaspersky Anti-virus, according to the editorial staff, were the additional product features not available in competitor products. In part, these are the means for integration with office applications and various e-mail clients, special features for scanning Visual Basic and Java Script programs, the multi-functional Control Center, and the scanning of the wide spectrum of archived files and Outlook and Outlook Express databases.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal and Personal Pro were named PC Magazine Russia "Editors' Choice" namely due to the optimal set of functions for defending a home computer combined with the high operating level found in the Kaspersky Anti-Virus product.
