Kaspersky Lab strengthens it's Americas' research bench with addition of new malware analysts

Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management systems, announces that four new malware analysts have been hired to provide additional research support to the Americas region

Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management systems, announces that four new malware analysts have been hired to provide additional research support to the Americas region.

Kaspersky Lab Americas has added four malware researchers to the Global Research and Analysis Team. Tim Armstrong, Fabio Assolini, Bo Olson and Josh Philips will work with Senior Malware Researcher Roel Schouwenberg and Senior Regional Researcher Dmitry Bestuzhev to continue developing the analysis and research against Internet threats and malware in the region.The new appointments are as follows:

  • Josh Phillips comes to Kaspersky Lab from Microsoft, where he served as a virus analyst who developed signatures for new and emergent malware. As a Senior Researcher with Kaspersky Lab, Josh will be responsible for continuing to identify and capture developing malware for the Americas region, as well as developing future technologies.
  • Tim Armstrong comes to the Global Research and Analysis Team from Kaspersky Lab Americas' corporate support team, where he worked with enterprise customers and performed on-site installations. In his new position as a Researcher, Armstrong will be responsible for monitoring the threat landscape and managing the ‘white-listed' software database for the Americas region.
  • Fabio Assolini joins Kaspersky Lab from his most recent position as an independent security researcher with Linha Defensiva. As a Researcher for Kaspersky, Assolini will focus his attention on the Latin American region, specifically Brazil. His responsibilities include identifying and providing analysis of viruses, banking Trojans and other Brazilian malware.
  • Bo Olson most recently served as a security intelligence analyst for Trend Micro. With almost a decade of experience, Olson will focus on in-depth analysis of viruses, Trojans, worms and other types of malware for Kaspersky Lab as a Researcher.

These additions to the Global Research and Analysis Team will be instrumental in continuing Kaspersky Lab's efforts in combating cyber crime and the growing malware threat.
