Kaspersky Lab announces the release of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Storage, a new product to protect the popular EMC Celerra family of unified storage systems

Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content and threat management solutions, announces the release of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Storage, a new product to protect the popular EMC Celerra family of unified storage systems.

Networked storage provides employees working in organizations of all sizes with fast and easy shared access to information. However, if a corporate network is unprotected, access to shared files can lead to some very undesirable consequences. A single infected file stored on a system may compromise the entire network, potentially causing substantial business, financial and reputational damage. That is why comprehensive protection for network storage systems is absolutely essential.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Storage is tightly integrated with EMC Celerra unified storage. Kapersky Anti-Virus for Storage has been expertly designed to provide the highest levels of protection, detecting and neutralizing malware from files and archives stored on EMC Celerra systems. The solution allows administrators to configure the system to perform scanning tasks in real-time as objects are saved and modified, or on-demand if required.

The new antivirus engine in Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Storage incorporates both traditional signature-based detection methods and proactive heuristic protection techniques. It boasts ultrafast operating speeds, low resource-intensity and is regularly updated without the need to reboot the system. This enables Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Storage to prevent IT threats from penetrating network storage areas, without interrupting business processes.

"Kaspersky Lab offers best-in-class anti-malware protection for diverse vulnerable points of the modern, heterogeneous IT infrastructure, including all kinds of endpoints, servers, gateways and smartphones in companies of all sizes" said Keith Maskell, Vice President of Corporate Business for Kaspersky Lab. "Our new product for protection of EMC Celerra unified storage systems is yet another step in our commitment to providing a full range of anti-malware protection to our mid-size and enterprise Customers, with the lowest possible Total Cost of Protection measured in terms of manageability and impact on user productivity."

"EMC is pleased that Kaspersky Lab has tightly integrated Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Storage with EMC unified storage systems, offering customers enhanced protection," said Rob Hazen, Director, ISV and OEM Partners, from EMC Corporation. "As a valued Celerra ISV partner within the EMC ISV Partner Program, EMC and Kaspersky continue to collaborate to ensure our mutual customers have the highest level of support possible for their information infrastructure initiatives."
