Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, has released Kaspersky® Anti-Virus 5.5 for Samba Server, a new version of its popular corporate antivirus product. Based on Linux and FreeBSD platforms, Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Samba Server uses state-of-the-art tools to combat malicious programs and is an essential element for protecting Samba file servers in the corporate IT infrastructure. Kaspersky® Anti-Virus 5.5 for Samba Server supports all new Samba versions up to 3.0.0-3.0.23a.
Kaspersky® Anti-Virus 5.5 for Samba Server is easy to install and configure; and features real-time monitoring of all operations on objects located on the server, including file creation, opening and modification. It effectively blocks infected objects and treats them, notifying the administrator of any infections detected. The program can perform a complete scan of all data on the server at the administrator’s request.
The solution can detect viruses in more than 1,200 most common archived and compressed file formats.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Samba Server has been designed to make the system administrator’s life as simple as possible. Most functions can be automated, including the KeepUp2Date module, which automatically downloads the latest antivirus database and updates from dedicated Kaspersky Lab servers.
Updates for antivirus databases are released hourly. If a connection is broken during an update, the system automatically selects an alternative server and continues downloading the update when the connection is restored.
Administrators can also use the simple and convenient remote administration system, which allows them to manage the solution, change antivirus protection settings and view reports on the application’s activity. If necessary, access to the program can be restricted using a system of passwords. The new Kaspersky® Anti-Virus 5.5 for Samba Server includes an improved system for checking user permissions that blocks file access by unauthorized users before they can perform any actions.
