New release combines antivirus and anti-spam protection for corporate clients
Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions that protect against viruses, hacker attacks, spyware, Trojans and spam, announces that beta testing of Kaspersky® Security 5.5 for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 has begun. This latest version now protects mailboxes and shared folders on servers running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 against spam as well as malware.
The anti-spam component integrated into Kaspersky Security 5.5 for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 provides multi-tier filtering of SMTP messages received via the mail server. All message attributes and attachments are analyzed. Depending on the settings, a message can be delivered to a recipient's inbox, moved to the Junk folder, blocked or deleted. It does not replace anti-spam mechanisms built into Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 but extends and enhances them, making the system more effective.
In addition, Kaspersky Security 5.5 for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 offers a broad range of functions related to the processing of undesirable objects. To eliminate the loss of important information, the application can save backup copies of message objects prior to disinfection or deletion (for antivirus treatment) or save copies of messages before they are deleted or blocked (for anti-spam scanning) in a special storage area from which objects can be restored if necessary. The software's configurable filters make it easy to find originals.
Kaspersky Security 5.5 for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 is a software package providing antivirus protection for mail servers by scanning all incoming and outgoing messages, including any attached objects. Depending on its settings, the application disinfects or deletes malicious objects or delivers them to recipients with text-based warning messages. Additionally, each time the antivirus databases are updated, messages scanned earlier are rescanned for new threats. Such scans are preformed in the background and do not significantly affect mail server performance.
The application can be configured to set parameters based on the volume and characteristics of traffic processed by the server, as well as such hardware characteristics as the amount of RAM, performance, number of CPUs installed etc. Importantly, the application can be configured either manually or automatically. The licensing policy for Kaspersky Security 5.5 for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 optimizes the system of protection by creating a list of storage devices to be protected. This ensures efficient distribution of protection resources subject to limitations imposed by the license, helping optimize the cost of protecting the customer's entire infrastructure.
