Kaspersky Lab opens beta-testing of Kaspersky® Anti-Virus 5.0 for Sendmail with Milter API

May 31, 2004

Kaspersky Lab, a leading information security software developer, releases Kaspersky® Anti-Virus Sendmail with Milter API into open beta-testing. This is the first Kaspersky Lab product which has been developed to provide antivirus protection for Sendmail with support for Milter API.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Sendmail with Milter API protects Linux/ Unix server mail traffic. The program works in conjunction with Sendmail and supports Sendmail's Content Management (Milter) API. This interface provides internal applications with access to mail messages processed by Sendmail. It also offers additional processing and editing of the contents and meta-data of mail messages.

All incoming and outgoing mail traffic is analysed for full control over possible sources of virus penetration. The solution quickly and effectively neutralizes viruses, preventing them from spreading throughout the system.

The product has been developed to be maximally user-friendly. Pre-defined antivirus options are available; depending on the configuration chosen by the administrator, messages can be analysed either fully, or partially, by topic, body, or attachment. Additional mail traffic filtration by name, MIME type (for attached files), and size (of decoded attachments) provides extra security for messages.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Sendmail with Milter API not only protects electronic correspondence but also ensures its integrity. A copy of the message is made before execution of any operation which will lead to the message being rejected, blocked or modified.

Visit the beta testing section of Kaspersky Lab' site to find out more about how to participate. The most active participants will receive a free commercial copy of the program once it has been released.
