120 people celebrate success of IT security company at its new environmentally friendly office in Oxfordshire

Kaspersky Lab UK today officially opened its new UK office at Milton Park. The Shadow Culture Minister and Member of Parliament for Wantage & Didcot, Ed Vaizey MP, was joined at the official ceremony by more than 120 people, including the Co-founder and CEO of the IT security company, Eugene Kaspersky, who flew in from Moscow to cut the ribbon.
“Kaspersky Lab is a shining example of a company that continues to enjoy huge success despite the current economic climate,” comments Ed Vaizey MP. “The growing threat from Cybercrime is a worrying concern for everyone who goes online. I applaud the tireless commitment of the company and the dedication of its staff to help make the Internet a safer place for all of us.” He adds: “I am also delighted that Kaspersky Lab has chosen to remain loyal to the local area”.
Co-founder and CEO of Kaspersky Lab, Eugene Kaspersky states: “The company is growing fast around the world. We are introducing new and innovative technologies, which millions of people and organisations are relying on to keep them protected from Cybercrime. Today’s opening of our new and much larger UK office is an important part of our ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of our customers and partners in the UK.”
Earlier this month Kaspersky Lab announced that as a result of significant growth in the UK market it had outgrown its previous offices, at the Culham Science Centre near Abingdon. At the new 12,000 sq ft office Kaspersky Lab enjoys a range of environmentally sustainable features including low energy air conditioning, rain water harvesting and solar-powered water heating. The building has been designed to surpass current building regulations, helping to minimise the carbon footprint of the building and reduce overall running costs.
The Managing Director of Kaspersky Lab UK, Malcolm Tuck, comments: “Kaspersky Lab has doubled UK corporate sales quarter on quarter during the period between Q4 2008 to end of Q1 2009 and in the past 12 months our retail market share has grown from 5% to as high as 24% through the development of key partnerships such as Dixons Store Group. We are bucking the downward trend that has hit many other companies worldwide and establishing a much larger UK office is an important signal that we are wholly dedicated to the UK and Oxfordshire.”
Kaspersky Lab supplies award-winning IT security products for homes and business users, with the Kaspersky Open Space Security suite recently winning the prestigious SC Magazine Award for Security Product of the Year 2009.
