Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Symbian OS now in open beta-testing
Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, is now conducting open beta-testing of a new product: protection for mobile phones running Symbian 6.1 and 7.0. This antivirus solution uses the latest technologies to protect smartphones from malicious code.
Kaspersky® Anti-Virus for Symbian OS combines an antivirus monitor, which intercepts viruses in real-time, and an antivirus scanner which checks files for malicious code on demand. Users are offered a wide range of configuration options: it's possible to schedule scans, and define which types of file should be scanned for viruses.
The solution contains an integrated update function; updates to the antivirus database can be downloaded either according to a schedule or on demand. Updates are downloaded via Kaspersky Lab's dedicated WAP site.
All participants in the beta testing program who submit details of the model of telephone they use to test the product, together with feedback on product functionality, will receive a free commercial version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Symbian OS once it is released. The product will be licensed for 1 year.
