Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces support for Microsoft Network Access Protection (NAP) technology in its products.

Microsoft Network access protection is a policy enforcement technology built into the Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Server 2008 that enhances network security by enforcing compliance with computer health requirements. With Network Access Protection, network administrators can create customized health requirement policies to validate computer health before allowing network access or communication, automatically update compliant computers to ensure ongoing compliance, and optionally confine noncompliant computers to a restricted network until they become compliant.

“Today, companies of all sizes need systems that provide secure access to corporate networks. With the number of mobile employees with access to the corporate network rapidly increasing and IT threats constantly evolving, the Network Access Protection technology promises to become an important element of protection for the corporate IT infrastructure,” said Alexey Kalgin, Kaspersky Lab deputy product director. “This is why our company has decided to add support for this technology in its corporate products.”

“Microsoft is pleased that Kaspersky Lab will be supporting Network Access Protection,” said Manlio Vecchiet, Microsoft's group product manager, security and access product marketing. “Implementation of support for Microsoft Network Access Protection in Kaspersky Administration Kit will help to protect corporate networks more effectively and will benefit the customers of our companies.”

Support for Network Access Protection will be included in version 7.0 of Kaspersky Administration Kit, a powerful and flexible tool for creating an integrated antivirus system based on Kaspersky Lab applications that features centralized administration on complex computer networks of any size, with support for remote offices and mobile users.

Kaspersky Lab is currently developing two key components that will provide Network Access Protection support. The Kaspersky Lab System Health Agent (SHA) component collects information about the status of antivirus protection on the client computer and sends it to the NAP health policy server (NPS), which decides whether the client should be granted access to the network.

The Kaspersky Lab System Health Validator component installed on the NPS server receives information from the SHA and sends it to the Kaspersky Lab Administration Server.
