Kaspersky Lab and Ernst & Young Combine Forces

January 23, 2002

The two companies announce their strategic partnership

Kaspersky Lab, an international data-security software developer, and Ernst & Young, one of the largest international consulting firms, announce the signing of a strategic agreement and the beginning a wide-ranging collaboration for the development and delivery of prepared information security solutions to end users in Russia and other countries within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Ernst & Young offers a wide range of services on the worldwide market. One of the firm's most important areas of business activity is in the development and perfecting of the security infrastructure for enterprise-wide networks. Amongst these are the assessing of a network's defense from unauthorized access; providing consultation for establishing policies and procedures for the use of computer technology; certifying cyber processes; and assessing the companies' ability to implement security systems in the area of e-business.

This service complex now includes the development of anti-virus defense based on KasperskyTM Anti-Virus as part of the overall information defense strategy for a corporation.

'We have chosen Kaspersky Lab as our partner, because the company maintains the leading position on the Russian and CIS market in the area of information security. Working together with Kaspersky Lab allows us to effectively satisfy our customers' needs,' commented Michelle Moore, Head of Technology and Security Risk Services Department of Ernst & Young.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus is a universal anti-virus suite designed for all user categories: home users; small- and mid-sized business; and large corporate networks of any scale. The program provides reliable defense against all types of malicious code (viruses, network worms, Trojan horses) for workstations, file servers and handheld devices. Kaspersky Lab' products include state-of-the-art technology: an anti-virus monitor, anti-virus scanner, integrity checker, and behavior blocker. The combined use of these tools provides the highest level of control over virus activity. Kaspersky Anti-Virus also is integrated with a unique centralized installation and administering system for network anti-virus defense. The program increases a system administrator's efficiency many times over, and allows for decreasing an end user's need to buy similar software from other software developers.

'We are pleased to work together with Ernst & Young. This is an excellent opportunity for us to increase our presence on the corporate market and, together with our new partner, to provide end users with a solution to their information security,' said Natalya Kaspersky, Kaspersky Lab CEO. 'Our companies are leaders in their respective areas of business, therefore, I am confident that our cooperation will guarantee success.'

Kaspersky Lab and Ernst & Young have already taken steps toward a practical realization of the signed agreement. At this time, the companies are putting the finishing touches on a series of negotiations regarding the conducting of the joint projects by performing an assessment and risk analysis related to information technology and embedded anti-virus defense. Among these projects are an international consumer goods producer, an Eastern-European automaker, and a well-known Russian oil company.
