Kaspersky Lab, a leading information security software developer, presents fifth generation protection for Samba Server - Kaspersky® Anti-Virus 5.0. The product incorporates the latest anti-virus technologies, thereby providing comprehensive protection for corporate networks. Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Samba Server provides complete anti-virus protection for Samba file servers using Linux and FreeBSD. The solution is easy to install and configure, and offers complete control over all operations performed on files stored on the server. Constant anti-virus scanning reliably protects data when creating, opening or modifying files. This significantly reduces the risk of viruses penetrating the corporate network. Comprehensive protection is provided by the latest Kaspersky Lab technologies, which constantly monitor all operations within the system and optimize system performance. Real-time virus scanning prevents penetration by malicious code and the epidemic spread of viruses. The solution effectively blocks infected objects, disinfects them and reports all actions to the system administrator, who can also order a complete scan of all data at any time. This function can also be automated by setting a scanning schedule. Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Samba Server doesn't give viruses any room for manoeuvre. The program detects viruses in over 700 common compressed and archive file formats. An additional integrated script file means that files in tar and zip formats can be disinfected and data restored. Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Samba Server also contains innovative iChecker technology, developed by Kaspersky Lab to maximise system performance by reducing the number of files scanned. iChecker compares saved information about files with their current status. If no information about a file is found, the file will be scanned for viruses. Changes to the architecture of the solution make it easier to configure than the previous version, and improve efficiency in multi-processor systems. System administrators will benefit from the multitude of automatic functions. For instance, the KeepUp2Date component facilitates the rapid download of anti-virus database and program updates from dedicated Kaspersky Lab servers via the Internet. Anti-virus database updates are released twice daily, and are automatically downloaded by the solution. If any problems arise, the program automatically chooses an alternative server having saved the data that had already been downloaded. Should an administrator choose, the whole downloading process can be conducted manually. In addition to the multitude of automatic functions, Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Samba Server is configured for convenient remote administration. The solution is fully integrated with the administration system Webmin. Webmin provides remote administration, changing of anti-virus protection configuration and viewing of application logs. If necessary, access to the program can be restricted by introducing a password system.
