AV-Comparatives, a respected Austrian antivirus lab, has conducted a new comparative test to determine the effectiveness of on-demand malicious software detection provided by different antivirus products. The lab tested 17 leading antivirus products for home users using a virus collection of over 1 million malicious program samples.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 proved to be almost 100% effective at detecting malicious programs, including worms, Trojans and polymorphic viruses. According to experts of the AV-Comparatives lab, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 is also one of the fastest in detecting new malware samples.
Based on the testing results, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 was awarded a certificate of the top level, ADVANCED+. It should also be noted that three of the other five products that received an ADVANCED+ certificate (eScan Anti-Virus 8.0, F-Secure Anti-Virus 2007 and G-Data Anti Virus Kit) use Kaspersky Lab’s antivirus engine. According to AV-Comparatives expert Andreas Clementi, “all products in the ADVANCED+ category offer a very high level of on-demand detection.”
