Kaspersky Lab, a leading information security software developer, announces the start of open beta-testing for Kaspersky® Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations and Kaspersky® Administration Kit 5.0. Both products play an important role in any corporate information security policy.
The solution for Windows Workstations provides effective protection for individual machines, while Kaspersky Administration Kit enables centralized management of the antivirus security system. Both products have undergone a whole range of modifications and include a wide range of technical and functional upgrades.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations significantly outperforms version 4.5 in all areas. A new antivirus engine and new iChecker® and iStream® technologies ensure that the amount of RAM necessary to run the program has been halved, and scanning is now three times faster.
The new, ergonomic user interface simplifies administrators' lives, offering three pre-defined protection levels: maximum protection, recommended, and maximum speed.
Protection for mail systems has also been enhanced: Kaspersky Anti-Virus next generation products neutralise malicious code in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express mail bases, and scan SMTP/POP3 traffic regardless of which mail client is being used. Even the newest trends in malicious code are covered - the program is able to detect and cure infected objects in ZIP, ARJ, CAB and RAR archives.
Kaspersky Administration Kit 5.0 likewise includes a wide range of upgrades and improvements which extend product functionality. Once again, network administrators will appreciate the simplified interface, which is now completely integrated with the Microsoft Management Console, a standard management utility.
In order to meet today's corporate security demands, Kaspersky Administration Kit can now control up to 5000 computers. Administration has been simplified: administrators can group networked computers by centrally defining a single parameter. This expedites protection as group tasks can be defined and the execution tracked. In addition, the log and reporting functions have been upgraded, meaning the administrator is fully informed about network protection overall, as well as the performance of applications on individual machines.
