Russian software leads PC Direct comparative tests
The March issue of the French publication "PC Direct" featured a comparative test of the seven most popular personal Internet firewalls. Kaspersky® Anti-Hacker showed exceptional performance in all areas tested. The program was awarded the highest marks overall, and designated 'Best Value', beating out competing products Zone Alarm Pro 4, Norton Personal Firewall 2004, BlackICE PC Protection, McAfee Firewall Plus 2004, Net Barrier 2003, and Sygate Personal Firewall 5.5.
PC Direct reviewers rated Kaspersky Anti-Hacker highly on ease of use, finding the program's main interface impressively clear. The interface provides users with a slidable scale to set the security level and to activate stealth mode. Once the computer is in stealth mode, it blocks all incoming network requests, becoming invisible to other network users, while Internet operation remains fully functional.
When testing Kaspersky Anti-Hacker, the reviewers also noted the great efficacy with which the program monitors application activity. By default, a network activity level is assigned to the most frequently used applications according to their type. This maintains the level of security even when malicious programs attempt to steal data.
In awarding the Russian firewall 'Best Value' status, the PC Direct reviewers noted that, 'like other personal firewalls, Kaspersky Anti-Hacker monitors data transferred via all ports, but it is the only solution that lets the user define one rule for a whole group of potentially dangerous IP addresses, thus reliably blocking penetration from outside."
