Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces that Eugene Kaspersky, founder and CEO of the company, will participate in ITU Telecom World 2009, a major telecommunications exhibition to be held on 5–9 October in Geneva, Switzerland.

A roundtable discussion entitled "Tackling cyberthreats: towards effective global partnership" will be held on 6 October from 11:00 to 12:30 as part of the exhibition. The panel will include Eugene Kaspersky; Juhan Parts, Estonian Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications; Mr. Mohd Noor Amin, Chairman of International Multilateral Partnership against Cyber-Threats (IMPACT) Malaysia; Mr Chihiro Sawada, Vice-President of NEC Corporation, Japan; Carlos Solari, Vice-President of Alcatel-Lucent, U.S.; and Abdulaziz Sager, Chairman of Gulf Research Center, United Arab Emirates.

The panel discussion will focus on the protection of vital global IT infrastructures from cyberthreats, identifying vulnerabilities and developing effective mechanisms to protect these infrastructures.

"For many years now we at Kaspersky Lab have been supporters of international and intergovernmental cooperation in the fight against cyberterrorism. We, therefore, welcome the continued discussion on an international level in this area," says Eugene Kaspersky, CEO of Kaspersky Lab. "We are glad to see the world community is starting to realize the scale of the threat posed by cyberterror. However, a major effort still needs to be made by state bodies and intergovernmental organizations assisted by IT security experts if this threat is going to be addressed effectively."

ITU Telecom World is a telecommunications exhibition that is only held once every few years by the International Telecommunication Union, a UN structure. This major international event brings together representatives of the global telecommunications industry. Each exhibition is used as a forum for the discussion of problems and challenges facing the entire industry. More than 100,000 representatives of business, government and the mass media will visit ITU Telecom World 2009.
