Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions that protect against viruses, hackers and spam, announces the release of a new packet for Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Pro 5.0 – Maintenance Pack 2 (MP2). The updated version includes comprehensive functional improvements as well as new consumer-oriented options in the architecture, technology and processes.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Pro is the premium solution in the Kaspersky Lab personal product line. Intended for advanced users with a thorough understanding of computer technology, this program includes a variety of versatile settings, including, for instance, fully customized antivirus scanning. The program uses the latest technology, supplied with unrivalled support services and round the clock access to antivirus databases that are updated hourly. This provides users of Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Pro protection against the full range of malicious programs.
The primary changes in Maintenance Pack 2 include the expansion of the class of malicious programs against which users are protected. Once the new version is installed, users will be able to protect their machines against spyware. Spyware includes a range of potentially hostile programs that harvest information from computers about users. Kaspersky Anti-Virus first detected and neutralized this type of threat in 1996, whereas the IT community at large has perceived this class of malware as a distinct type of only within the past year or so.
Furthermore, Maintenance Pack 2 protects users from Internet attacks. Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Pro 5.0, with MP2, is now capable of detecting network attacks and blocking them by using the built-in personal firewall now available in the antivirus program.
The new version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Pro is characterized by increased user-friendliness, demonstrated in the updated program interface. MP2 implementation substantially streamlines administrative mechanisms for the entire range of program options. In particular, the process for creating user defined antivirus scanning and installation of antivirus protection, as well as producing lists of threats detected by the antivirus bases, have been improved.
Users of Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Pro 5.0 will appreciate the benefits of increased productivity. First of all, the upgraded technology used to detect and scan objects uses fewer system resources. Secondly, users can now specify exceptions based on object names, or verdicts. Finally, a new function allows users to suspend full protection for a specified amount of time or until the user turns it on again, such as when they reboot or when they connect to the Internet.
Apart from this, the antivirus system updates have been considerably improved. Previously, advanced users were required to select options to set up the list of server updates and parameters. Likewise, the release of MP2 solves the problem of wasted antivirus functionality when the antivirus databases have been damaged. In this situation, the program automatically reverts to the previous, stable variant of the antivirus database.
Lastly, MP2 eliminates all flaws and defects, and corrects the vulnerabilities in the previous version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Pro 5.0.
