Kaspersky Lab welcomed journalists from leading publications worldwide to an exclusive press conference with Fernando Alonso, two-times Formula 1 champion, and Eugene Kaspersky, CEO and co-founder of Kaspersky Lab.
The press conference took place on 20 November in New York as part of the global “Driving Toward Better Online Security” press tour. The event drew a wide range of different publications, from serious-minded titles like Forbes, The Guardian, The Huffington Post and The Times of India to glossy magazines including Men’s Health, Maxim and Playboy.
The name and tagline of the event, "Driving Toward Better Online Security", brings together two seemingly different worlds – those of motor racing and online security. Both Alonso and Kaspersky had a lot to share in the talk show-style event. The two traded stories and took questions from journalists, mostly focusing on the security and protection of personal data, and discussing their own online experiences. There was also a photo and autograph session.
The conference culminated in the first official screening of a commercial featuring Fernando Alonso as part of Kaspersky Lab's “Safeguarding Me” advertising campaign. That video clip is already racking up views on the Internet, and can be seen here.
After the press conference the journalists had a separate briefing session with Eugene Kaspersky. In the evening they were invited to New York’s Classic Car Club and had an opportunity to drive around Manhattan in luxury cars.
