Travel Germany: From cliff faces to cozy beer gardens
What to see
The Brandenburg Gate: If you’re looking for something iconic

Berlin as a whole will never disappoint. But if there’s one landmark that captures modern Germany, it is the Brandenburg Gate. The gate was built in 1791 as a symbol of peace, but it became one of the most loaded symbols of the 20th century. It witnessed the Nazi era, the Cold War and finally the reunification of Germany. When the Wall fell, crowds flooded through the Brandenburg Gate on November 9, 1989 – it became an iconic moment of liberation, a symbol of reunification, freedom, and resilience.
Brandenburg Gate
Aside from being an important symbol and tourist attraction, Brandenburg Gate hosts events throughout the year. Keep an eye out for events during the time of your visit
Berchtesgaden: If you want to explore the outdoors

This part of Germany is often underestimated, yet it is home to some of the country’s most breathtaking scenery. The combination of mountains, deep forests and crystal-clear lakes is amazing. Königssee lake in particular looks almost unreal when the water reflects the mountains
Berchtesgaden
Take the electric boat across the lake and listen to the boatman playing a trumpet; the sound echoes off the sheer cliff faces which makes for a magical experience. Get off at St. Bartholomä and then continue on foot along the lakeside trail toward the Salet landing stage. The walk passes steep rock faces, waterfalls and wonderful sections of forest right beside the water.
Saxon Switzerland: If you’re looking for a hidden gem

Saxon Switzerland is a breathtaking national park located just a stone’s throw from Dresden, Germany. Personally, I love Saxon Switzerland because it feels almost unreal due to its truly extraordinary geology. Millennia of erosion by the Elbe River, frost, and rain isolated countless vertical rock towers from the surrounding plateau - some rise over 100 meters.
In the early morning, mist often floats between the rock formations, and the scenery looks more like Scandinavia or North America than Germany. At the same time, the region feels calm, authentic, and far less crowded than many of Germany’s famous tourist destinations
Saxon Switzerland
Saxon Switzerland is beautiful year-round, but the best time to visit largely depends on your preferences. Spring (March to May) is ideal for mild weather and blooming flowers. Perfect for hiking and outdoor activities
What to experience: If you want to go beyond tourist attractions
If you’re looking to go beyond the famous landmarks and experience Germany like a local, you should definitely make time to:
Christmas markets
Visit a Christmas market during Advent season. The warm lights, mulled wine, roasted sugar-coated almonds and handmade crafts create a unique atmosphere
What to eat and drink

For travelers and locals alike, food is a crucial part of experiencing a country. If you’re looking for an authentic taste of Germany, you should try:
Bratwurst
One of the most famous German foods, especially popular in NurembergSchnitzel
Crispy, hearty, and usually served with potato salad or friesPretzel
Best enjoyed fresh in Bavaria and Baden Wurttemberg with butter or cheeseKäsespätzle
A comforting southern German dish similar to mac and cheeseSchweinshaxe
A classic Bavarian specialty with crispy skin
My favoruite would be the “Sperling” restaurant in my Bavarian village. Delicious food and a place where you feel right at home.
„Dahoam is Dahoam” is a well-known Bavarian expression. In English, it roughly means “Home is home” or “There’s no place like home.”
Staying safe during your travels in Germany
Stay protected while you travel with Kaspersky
A trip should be about the journey ahead, not about worrying whether your phone, your accounts, or your personal data are safe along the way. But travel is exactly when your digital life can be exposed: you're booking things on the go, tapping links from unfamiliar senders, logging in to new apps, and connecting to whatever Wi-Fi you can find. Kaspersky helps you stay protected through all of it, so you can focus on where you're going.
It often starts before you even leave. As you book flights, hotels, and transport, Kaspersky Premium helps protect you from common travel scams, for example, fake booking links, misleading travel offers, and scam messages designed to catch you mid-plan. With Safe Messaging feature, it can flag suspicious links and messages before you tap, whether you're confirming a reservation, arranging a ride, paying online, or chatting on the go with a local guide.
With Kaspersky eSIM, you can get online as soon as you arrive without searching for a local SIM card or relying on unsecured public Wi-Fi. Whether you need to check directions, contact your accommodation, book a taxi or let your family know you've arrived safely, staying connected from the very beginning of your trip is simple and convenient.
Once you're on the move, the Wi-Fi at airports, hotels, cafés, and train stations becomes part of everyday travel, and that's where Kaspersky VPN comes in. By encrypting your internet traffic, it helps you use public networks more safely when you browse, check your plans, or access your accounts. It also helps you stay connected to the services you rely on at home — from banking and personal accounts to your favorite apps, websites, and streaming services — even while you're abroad.
And because travel means juggling more accounts than usual — airline apps, hotel sites, booking platforms, email, payment services — Kaspersky Password Manager keeps your credentials secure and within easy reach from your mobile device. It can create and manage strong passwords so you're not relying on weak or reused ones, and it lets you log in quickly wherever you are. You can also keep important travel documents (passport details, tickets, and booking confirmations) in a secure vault, so they're ready the moment you need them.
Together, these tools help protect your personal data across your devices and alert you to potential risks as you go, so the only thing you have to think about is the journey, not your digital safety.
