<\/a><\/p>\nThe Self-Defense component of Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 blocks all attempts to change or remove antivirus files, memory processes and registry events.<\/p>\n
By default, Self-Defense is enabled in Kaspersky Internet Security 2014.\u00a0 However, there might be situations when you should disable this component. Let\u2019s take a look at one of the most common cases.<\/p>\n
You installed Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 and soon noticed a significant decrease of free disk space. Check the Kaspersky Lab<\/b> folder:<\/p>\n If you see large text files or files with the *.log<\/b> extension, then its likely tracing is enabled in the application (for detailed information on how to check if tracing is enabled and to disable it, see this article<\/a>). If you try to remove these files with Self-Defense enabled, the component will consider your attempts unauthorized and will not allow you to do it. To remove trace files successfully, you should first temporarily disable Self-Defense. Do not forget to enable it again afterwards to ensure stable and secure work of your antivirus software.<\/p>\n To enable \/ disable the Self-Defense<\/b> component, do the following:<\/p>\n 1. Open Kaspersky Internet Security 2014<\/b>. Click Settings<\/b> in the lower right part of the window.<\/p>\n 2. In the Settings<\/b> window, select Additional<\/b> and click Self-Defense<\/b>.<\/p>\n 3. If your application is password-protected, enter the password you specified before and click Continue<\/b>.<\/p>\n 4. Select or deselect the Enable Self-Defense<\/b> checkbox.<\/p>\n\n
