Kaspersky Safe Kids can help"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Almost every home has a computer, and many children have a smartphone by the time they enter junior high. On the one hand, this is good: Children grow up tech savvy, and parents can call them at any time to check if everything\u2019s OK. But on the other hand, every silver lining has a cloud.<\/p>\n<h2>Children glued to the phone<\/h2>\n<p>Kids can sit in front of a phone screen seemingly for days on end, ignoring things like playing outside, chatting with friends, and homework. Their education, social skills, and even health can suffer. Hours-long gaming, YouTube, and social media sessions can likewise have adverse effects on posture and vision. Therefore, children\u2019s face time with gadgets requires parental control.<\/p>\n<p>If your child uses <em>your<\/em> smartphone or computer, it is easy to control when and for how long they use it. But what if they have their <em>own<\/em> device?<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, a solution exists \u2014 in the form of our parental-control application, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kaspersky.com\/safe-kids?icid=gl_kdailyplacehold_acq_ona_smm__onl_b2c_kasperskydaily_wpplaceholder____ksk___\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Kaspersky Safe Kids<\/a>. Install it on children\u2019s computers and mobile devices and you can configure it to limit their screen time. Here\u2019s how.<\/p>\n<input type=\"hidden\" class=\"category_for_banner\" value=\"safe-kids\">\n<h2>How to separate a child from a device<\/h2>\n<p>You can manage your child\u2019s screen time either from your My Kaspersky account on the computer or the Kaspersky Safe Kids application on your phone. After you create an account for each child, you\u2019ll link it with all of their devices \u2014 phones, tablets, and computers.<\/p>\n<p>Use <a href=\"https:\/\/my.kaspersky.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">My Kaspersky<\/a> to restrict screen time:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Select the <em>Kids<\/em> tab in the top menu.<\/li>\n<li>Select the child\u2019s account and click <em>Device use<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Go to the <em>Settings<\/em> tab and enable <em>Device use<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>In the drop-down menu to the right of the relevant device, select one of the following options:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Statistics only<\/strong> \u2014 if you just want to know how much time your child spends on the phone or computer.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Time limit<\/strong> \u2014 to limit screen time on the device.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_32282\" style=\"width: 760px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2020\/01\/28102742\/limit-device-usage-with-kaspersky-safe-kids-screen-en.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-32282\" class=\"size-full wp-image-32282\" src=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2020\/01\/28102742\/limit-device-usage-with-kaspersky-safe-kids-screen-en.png\" alt=\"How to limit your kid's screen time\" width=\"750\" height=\"652\"><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-32282\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">How to limit your kid\u2019s screen time<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Kaspersky Safe Kids lets you schedule when your child is allowed to use the smartphone, tablet, or computer. This is handy for, say, blocking the device during lessons or other activities. You can also configure the application to restrict screen time but still let the child independently decide how to use the device. Four restriction options are available:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Warn by schedule<\/strong> \u2014 a warning appears on the device screen if the child tries to use it outside of the permitted times.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Block by schedule<\/strong> \u2014 the device is blocked during the time period you specify. The device will still allow phone calls, but it will not send text messages, play games, or use social networks. Note: This option is not available in iOS.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Warn by daily usage<\/strong> \u2014 the application shows a warning if the child has been on the device for longer than allowed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Block by daily usage<\/strong> \u2014 the application blocks the device if usage exceeds the time limit. Again, this option is unavailable in iOS.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=okNKV5GGx3k\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">configure restrictions in the Kaspersky Safe Kids mobile app<\/a> on your device:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click the gear icon to access settings.<\/li>\n<li>Select <em>Device use<\/em> to open the list of your child\u2019s computers and phones.<\/li>\n<li>Click the name of the device for which you want to set restrictions.<\/li>\n<li>Under <em>Type of monitoring<\/em>, select one of the following options:\n<ul>\n<li><em>Do not monitor<\/em>,<\/li>\n<li><em>Statistics only<\/em>,<\/li>\n<li><em>Schedule<\/em>,<\/li>\n<li><em>Daily limits<\/em>;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>For the <em>Schedule<\/em> and <em>Daily limits<\/em> options, select an action in the <em>Type of limit<\/em> menu:\n<ul>\n<li><em>Show warnings to child<\/em>,<\/li>\n<li><em>Block device<\/em>;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Specify when and for how long the child can use the computer, phone, or tablet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<input type=\"hidden\" class=\"category_for_banner\" value=\"safe-kids\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Do your children spend all their time on their computer or smartphone?
