We used the Top 1000 queries on YouTube as our baseline of 100%, as children tend to use this platform more than others.<\/p>\n<p>We divided all search queries into categories by topic:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Games<\/li>\n<li>YouTube bloggers and channels<\/li>\n<li>Music<\/li>\n<li>Movies, cartoons, and TV shows<\/li>\n<li>Other<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2022\/12\/19043332\/xmas-gifts-for-kids-2022-1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2022\/12\/19043332\/xmas-gifts-for-kids-2022-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1434\" height=\"787\" class=\"img-big aligncenter size-full wp-image-46622\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This fall, the videos on YouTube most searched for by kids worldwide can be divided into four major categories: \u201cGames\u201d, \u201cYouTube bloggers and channels\u201d, \u201cMusic\u201d, \u201cMovies, cartoons, and TV shows\u201d. We grouped the \u00a0search terms with fewer hits under \u201cOther\u201d, but we will definitely consider them in more detail. The \u201cGames\u201d topic is traditionally the most popular among children around the world, accounting for 26% of the Top 1000 queries on YouTube. \u201cYouTube bloggers and channels\u201d meaning the names of YouTubers and their channels offering all types of content\u00a0\u2014 including crazy challenges, unboxing videos, food reviews and lifestyle\u00a0blogs \u2014 make up 19%. Queries related to music artists and music videos take a 16% slice. Movies, cartoons, and TV shows also make up 16%.<\/p>\n<h2>YouTube bloggers and channels<\/h2>\n<p>The most popular YouTuber among children worldwide by number of searches is <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@MrBeast\">MrBeast<\/a>. Other top YouTubers are the American <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@SSSniperWolf\">SSSniperWolf<\/a>, the Belarusian Vlad Bumaga with his <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@A4a4a4a4\">A4<\/a> channel, long popular among Russian-speaking kids, and the Brazilian <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UC2bYhAHyaqfWlPXWBVk4BcA\">Enaldinho<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Games<\/h2>\n<p>Among game-themed queries, the vast majority belonged to names of YouTube gaming influencers\u2019 channels, accounting for 60.46% of all video game-related searches. This fall\u2019s most popular gaming influencers were the English-speaking <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@CoryxKenshin\">CoryxKenshin<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@Aphmau\">Aphmau<\/a>, the German-speaking <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@iCrimax\">iCrimax<\/a>, the French-speaking <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@TheFuriousJumper\">Furious Jumper<\/a>, and the Russian-speaking <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@RomanCompot\">Compot<\/a>. Almost everyone on this list filmed Let\u2019s Plays (LPs) of the two biggest games among kids: <em>Minecraft<\/em> and <em>Roblox<\/em>. From their videos you can also learn which other games, besides these two, are in vogue with children. These top gaming vloggers often are the ones who shoot LPs and reviews of the \u201cnext big thing\u201d, as was the case with <em>Five Nights at Freddy\u2019s<\/em> and <em>Poppy Playtime<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2022\/12\/18161755\/xmas-gifts-for-kids-2022-2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2022\/12\/18161755\/xmas-gifts-for-kids-2022-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1434\" height=\"874\" class=\"img-big aligncenter size-full wp-image-46623\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Besides gaming influencers, we compiled a list of the most searched-for games, headed by the aforementioned <em>Minecraft<\/em> and <em>Roblox<\/em> with 6.59% and 6.23%, respectively. November 2022 also saw the release of three games of different series, and our stats recorded their impact on kids. First a new part of the Pok\u00e9mon series of games\u00a0\u2014 Pok\u00e9mon Scarlet and Violet\u00a0\u2014 released on November 18, which brought Pok\u00e9mon-related queries to 0.92% of the total number. Second, <em>God of War Ragnar\u00f6k<\/em> appeared on November 9, accounting for 0.80%. Third, on November 22, <em>Just Dance 2023 Edition<\/em>, the latest installment of the <em>Just Dance<\/em> franchise, was released, scoring 0.75% in our stats.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2022\/12\/19042158\/xmas-gifts-for-kids-2022-3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2022\/12\/19042158\/xmas-gifts-for-kids-2022-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"947\" height=\"940\" class=\"img-big aligncenter size-full wp-image-46619\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Movies, Cartoons, and TV Shows<\/h2>\n<p>Movies, cartoons, and TV shows are a vital form of leisure not only for children, but for adults too. Half of all kids\u2019 YouTube search queries (50.48%) on this topic were for cartoons. Besides their traditional interest in <em>My Story Animated<\/em>, this fall kids were glued to the Netflix shows <em>Inside Job<\/em> and <em>My Little Pony<\/em> (a truly timeless hit), <em>Zootopia+<\/em>, a spin-off of the movie <em>Zootopia<\/em>, released on Disney+ on November 9, and season 5 of <em>Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug &amp; Cat Noir<\/em>, new episodes that are still coming out at the time of this article\u2019s posting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2022\/12\/18161821\/xmas-gifts-for-kids-2022-4.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2022\/12\/18161821\/xmas-gifts-for-kids-2022-4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1434\" height=\"349\" class=\"img-big aligncenter size-full wp-image-46624\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Among TV-shows, the Netflix series <em>Wednesday<\/em>, first aired on November 23, made a huge splash. Social networks were literally buzzing! Vloggers churned out videos devoted to the main character Wednesday\u2019s make-up and outfits, and the dance she performs at the ball in episode 4 went viral.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2022\/12\/19043028\/xmas-gifts-for-kids-2022-5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2022\/12\/19043028\/xmas-gifts-for-kids-2022-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1884\" height=\"867\" class=\"img-big aligncenter size-full wp-image-46620\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another one of the most popular movies and feature-length cartoons this fall was <em>Enola Holmes 2<\/em>, starring Millie Bobby Brown in the title role, released in October, also on Netflix. Judging by the search queries, besides movies already out, kids are really looking forward to <em>Rock Dog 3: Battle the Beat<\/em>, due out on January 24, 2023, and <em>The Super Mario Bros. Movie<\/em>, slated for April 7, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Among anime, besides the timeless <em>Naruto<\/em>, we observed kids\u2019 interest in the series <em>Chainsaw Man<\/em> recently released on Crunchyroll.<\/p>\n<h2>Music<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2022\/12\/19043354\/xmas-gifts-for-kids-2022-6.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2022\/12\/19043354\/xmas-gifts-for-kids-2022-6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1434\" height=\"787\" class=\"img-big aligncenter size-full wp-image-46625\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>K-pop has been a smash-hit genre with children for several years. After BTS announced an interlude in their career due to military service, boy band Stray Kids burst onto the musical scene. They have until 2025 to cement their place, as that is when BTS have promised to return. BLACKPINK is still one of the most sought-after K-pop groups on YouTube. Their new music videos \u201cPink Venom\u201d and \u201cShut Down\u201d were the most searched-for by kids. Alongside K-pop, English-speaking artists are also popular. For example, one of the most popular songs in English this fall was \u201cUnholy\u201d by the UK\u2019s Sam Smith and German singer Kim Petras. You can find a lot of covers of this song on YouTube, including a Nightcore version.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2022\/12\/18155129\/xmas-gifts-for-kids-2022-7.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2022\/12\/18155129\/xmas-gifts-for-kids-2022-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1420\" height=\"862\" class=\"img-big aligncenter size-full wp-image-46621\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another music genre gaining currency among kids is phonk, which they searched for almost as often as K-pop. Judging by the number of YouTube queries this fall\u2019s most popular rap artist was Bad Bunny.<\/p>\n<h2>Other<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2022\/12\/18161854\/xmas-gifts-for-kids-2022-8.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2022\/12\/18161854\/xmas-gifts-for-kids-2022-8.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1434\" height=\"846\" class=\"img-big aligncenter size-full wp-image-46626\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Under \u201cOther\u201d we grouped trends that are slightly less noticeable but still worth noting.<\/p>\n<p>Because Gacha Life has featured in detail in our previous roundups, we will pass over it this time in favor of other popular topics.<\/p>\n<p>For example, in the \u201cMemes\u201d category, thanks to the YouTube channel <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@Beluga1\/featured\">Beluga<\/a>, the Beluga cat meme got a second lease of life. And the popularity of Dr. Livesey from the Soviet animated film <em>Treasure Island<\/em> (1988), based on the novel by the same name, went far beyond the Russian-language segment of the internet. Also back by popular demand were Countryballs.<\/p>\n<p>Among the trending queries we registered this fall were \u201cclown laugh sound effect\u201d and \u201cloudest noise ever\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022\u2122 was a major topic, of course, accounting for almost all queries related to the \u201cSport\u201d topic.<\/p>\n<p>As for toys, the overwhelming majority of queries this fall were about LEGO, in particular the Ninjago series, after the release in 2022 of the 15th and final season of <em>Ninjago<\/em> animated series, subtitled<em> Crystalized<\/em>. To celebrate this, in August 2022, new LEGO Ninjago Crystalized sets were also released.<\/p>\n<p>Harry Potter and other Hogwarts-related products continue to enjoy popularity among children the world over. There appears to be an infinite number of themed toys, LEGO sets, merch, and stationery on all global marketplaces, meaning that parents of Potterheads won\u2019t have trouble finding a gift this Christmas. As for other kids\u2019 interests highlighted in this post, and what to do about them, let\u2019s have a think about possible gift ideas.<\/p>\n<h2>What to give?<\/h2>\n<p>If your child has shown interest in the above-mentioned November-released <em>God of War Ragnar\u00f6k<\/em>, <em>Just Dance 2023<\/em>, or <em>Pok\u00e9mon Scarlet and Violet<\/em>, it\u2019s worth considering buying them. Don\u2019t forget about gaming consoles, if your child doesn\u2019t have one already. A Nintendo Switch would make a great present, because you can play <em>Pok\u00e9mon<\/em> and <em>Just Dance<\/em> on it, as well as <em>New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe<\/em>, a game from the series which the eagerly awaited movie is based on.<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t already have a subscription to top streaming platforms like Netflix or Disney+, you can\u2019t go wrong by getting one. As we\u2019ve seen, these are the platforms that have the movies, cartoons, and TV shows that kids and teenagers prefer to watch. Remember that TV shows these days are not just entertainment, but an integral part of modern culture; the styles and images of the stars of iconic TV shows inspire both children and adults across the planet. Take Wednesday in the eponymous TV show. For a teenage girl who\u2019s into this series, you could try, for example, a pair of Dr Martens Jadon boots or a Snood scarf.
