We trust our technology, brands, partnerships and more. Many things can help build trust, like our long-term relationship with a brand or the strength of its reputation.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to tech, when we don\u2019t understand how something works or how it handles our data, we trust less easily. So, when it comes to winning trust, transparency helps \u2013 like clear verification and risk mitigation measures.<\/p>\n<h2>Do users care about transparency?<\/h2>\n<p>In 2021 Kaspersky published its research with over 15,000 adults in 23 countries on their attitudes to online privacy in its report, <a href=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2021\/03\/16090300\/consumer-appetite-versus-action-report.pdf\">Consumer appetite versus action: The state of data privacy amid growing digital dependency<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We found most of these consumers expected greater transparency about how their data was handled, with 62 percent saying they worry their online activities are constantly tracked by websites or services they use. A similar proportion (63 percent) said they felt transparency of technologies and companies was necessary for digital transformation.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"c-promo-product\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<article class=\"c-card c-card--link c-card--medium@sm c-card--aside-hor@lg\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"c-card__body  \">\n\t\t\t\t\t<header class=\"c-card__header\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"c-card__headline\">Businesses need trust management<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"c-card__title \"><span>Trust management<\/span><\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/header>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"c-card__desc \">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p> How can your business, its partners and your customers know you can trust each other?<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"c-card__aside\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kaspersky.com\/blog\/secure-futures-magazine\/trust-management-zero-trust\/39185\/\" class=\"c-button c-card__link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Read article<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/article>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\n<h2 style=\"margin: 12.0pt 0cm 12.0pt 0cm\"><span lang=\"EN\">Do businesses think the same?<\/span><\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>Research suggests businesses are increasingly aware that transparency in how they handle customer data matters.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>International Data Group (IDC) predicted at the end of 2021 that by 2025, half of the world\u2019s top 2,000 public companies would be <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.idc.com\/2021\/12\/02\/idc-futurescape-future-of-customers-and-consumers-2022-predictions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">employing more diverse data scientists with the intent to improve customer trust<\/a>. But what about the other half?<\/p>\n<p>Edelman Trust Barometer has studied <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edelman.com\/trust\/2022-trust-barometer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">trust in business, governments, media and other organizations<\/a> for over 20 years, now with over 36,000 respondents in 28 countries. In 2021, the study found falling levels of public trust in media and government. People felt institutions are not addressing their concerns around job loss, climate change and cybersecurity. The study notes, \u201cWe see an even greater expectation of business to lead as trust in government continues to spiral.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Taking action on trust and transparency<\/h2>\n<p>Kaspersky\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kaspersky.com\/transparency-center\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Global Transparency Initiative (GTI)<\/a> is now five years old. We\u2019ve invested many hours and much resource in it because we believe openness and transparency are crucial for cybersecurity.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe class=\"youtube-player\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"640\" height=\"390\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6t6fxdkvOzQ?version=3&amp;rel=1&amp;fs=1&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;wmode=transparent\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>What does GTI involve? We\u2019ve opened Transparency Centers in several countries and taken a range of actions to be more transparent with our customers, from making our source code available for public review to relocating part of our cyberthreat-related processing infrastructure to Switzerland. We also have a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kaspersky.com\/about\/press-releases\/2018_big-bounty-program-boost\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">bug bounty program<\/a>, generously rewarding security researchers who report a vulnerability in our products.<\/p>\n<h2>Building business cyber-resilience through learning<\/h2>\n<p>In a digital world, business must be cyber-resilient. Any compromise to IT infrastructure can lead to business loss.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Cyber-resilience means thinking beyond your systems to include business-critical processes and your supply chain. Your business should examine its vendors\u2019 views on software security and integrity.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As part of our GTI, Kaspersky is helping its partners and customers gain the tools and knowledge to protect themselves and choose reliable software.
