Concerning all Kaspersky Lab products

If you configure the Auto option, the update component updates the Antivirus database according to the information in the updcfg.xml file. In this file the recommended update period is set. The default update period is 2 hours. If the update component fails to update then it retries to update after 2 hours from the moment of the last update attempt.

The possibility to change the update frequency allows Kaspersky Lab experts regulating update frequency in case of virus outbreaks and other dangerous situations. The program will get the latest updates of threat signatures (anti-virus databases), network attacks and program modules in time thus preventing malicious programs from penetrating your computer.
