Concerning to:
  • Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0/7.0/2009 (all builds)
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations (all builds)
  • The Anti-Spy module has the Anti-Dialer component and blocks the programs that try to dial-up without user's knowledge and consent. Programs of the dialer type belong to the Spyware class and are wide-spread. Dialers are dangerous for homeusers as they dial-up to remote servers and connect to them without user's knowledge. As with all spyware, dialers use stealthy methods of installation (using ActiveX, TrojanDownloader, etc.). After installing itself, the dialer

    • dials up the number and connects by its own means;
    • can create new remote connections;
    • can change existing remote connections.

    The dialer technology is one the most powerful means a cyber criminal uses to access unprotected PC’s.
