Concerning to:
  • Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 MP2 (version 6.0.2.614)
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations (all builds)
  • Once Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 MP2 or Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations MP2 is installed the following error may occur on your PC;

    • When you try to open a network drive the following message is displayed: Drive is not available

    This is a peculiar feature of the Anti-Hacker component from Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 MP2/ Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations MP2. If a computer of one subnet tries to access another computer with the connected network drive from another subnet, the Anti-Hacker component closes/denies access to a computer from another subnet. By default during the installation process the Anti-Hacker component when scanning the network creates allowing rules for the subnet to which this computer belongs and gives to this subnet the Local network status. Thus unlimited data exchange among computers with the default settings can be only within one subnet.

    To prevent such situation, it is recommended in the product settings add subnetworks with the Local network status within which you need data exchange. You can do it the following way:

    • Open Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 main application window
    • Go to Settings > Anti-Hacker
    • In the Enable Firewall section click Settings
    • In the open window go to the Zones tab
    • Click the Add button
    • In the Zone settings window enter a new zone name, subnet mask and address.
    • Set the option to Local network
    • Click OK in each window
    • Minimize the Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 mail application window

    Information As an example computer subnet mask 255.255.255.0 with the installed Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 and computer subnet mask with a connected network drive 255.255.0.0 are used.

    Information The dialog windows for Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 MP2 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations MP2 are the same but with the corresponding product names.
