ID Article: 1322    Other languages:  Русский   Will be translated:  Deutsch   Polski     Views for 7 days 26    Last modified on 2009 Jun 03 12:54 Printable version

Concerning to:
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 MP2 (builds 6.0.2.614, 6.0.2.621)
  • Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 (builds 6.0.0.299 - 6.0.0.303)
  • Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 MP2 (builds 6.0.2.614, 6.0.2.621)
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations MP2 (version 6.0.2.678)
  • Mail scan mode in the Scan task can be regulated by changing either the scan area of the task or the task settings Parse mail formats.

In order to disable mail scan in the Scan task uncheck Mail databases in the scan area. If this scan area is checked it means all mail databases of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express, which corresponded to your account are scanned – these databases are defined in the system registry when the mail client is configured.

It should be noted that the area Mail databases belongs to the scan area My Computer. That is why if you select My Computer as a scan area, the area Mail databases should be unchecked, whereas other scan areas may remain checked/activated and thus included in the scan area.

    Information My Computer area includes:

      • Mail databases
      • System memory
      • Startup objects
      • Diskboot sectors
      • All removable drives
      • All hard drives

Except correct selection of scan area it is also important to enable/disable the parameter Parse email formats in the Scan settings:

Combination of these two settings (Mail databases and Parse email formats) leads to different results:

The option Parse email formats is checked

The option Parse email formats is NOT checked

The scan area Mail databases is scanned (the area is checked)

The task will scan all mail databases of your account.
If the san area comprises hard drives, in this case mail databases of other accounts and other files of mail formats (eml, msg and etc) stored on the specified hard drives will be scanned.

The task will scan all mail databases of your account.
Other mail databases and files of mail formats are not scanned.

The scan area Mail databases is NOT scanned (the area is NOT checked)

The task will scan all mail databases and files of mail formats stored on the hard drives specified in the scan area.

No mail databases and files of mail formats are scanned during the scan task.
