How to enable remote installation tracing of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Workstations 5.0.527 and above?

  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 SOS
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations MP5 (builds 5.0.676 - 5.0.712)
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations MP4 (builds 5.0.527 - 5.0.528)
  • To enable remote installation tracing of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Workstations version 5.0.527 and above run the reg-file MSI_log_on.reg on your computer.

    After installation the trace-file is located in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\<profile>\Local Settings\Temp (or <win.dir>/Temp) under name MSI*.log.

    To disable tracing run the file MSI_log_off.reg

    In Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Workstations 5.0.676 logs are created automatically during local installation or during remote installation/uninstallation via Kaspersky Administration Kit 5.0.

    The Logs are located to the folder %temp% (usually C:\Windows\Temp or C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\LocalSettings\Temp) under the following names: 

    • kav-install-yyyy-mm-dd-hh-mm-ss.log 
    • kav-uninstall-yyyy-mm-dd-hh-mm-ss.log

    The log is not created:

    - if the deinstallation process is run from the menu

    - if the installation process is run via the msi-file
