Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations keeps warning me that my computer has been attacked by Helkern. What should I do to get rid of these attacks?

Concerning to:
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations MP5 (builds 5.0.676 - 5.0.712)
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations MP4 (builds 5.0.527 - 5.0.528)
  • You can receive such messages from Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations. This warning means your Anti-Virus has successfully repulsed the Helkern attack and there is no more danger for you PC. You can find the description of this virus in the link: Net-Worm.Win32.Helkern.

    Remember: if you are not running MS SQL server on your PC, this virus cannot do any harm to your computer.

    In the current session you can disable displaying the window by clicking OK in the Do not show this window within the session window.

    To disable the warning windows, do the following:

    • Go to Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations > Settings > Configure Real Time protection > Real-Time Protection settings 
    • go to the Network tab 
    • in the Protection against network attacks window uncheck Notify user about network attacks 
    • close the window by clicking the OK button 
    • minimize the main window of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations

    IDS system will keep on running, detecting network attacks, repulsing them but you won't receive any pop-up message about this fact (more detailed about IDS system: Protection against network attacks in Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations).
