Problem: fail to enable protection against network attacks after anti-virus database update

  • Having updated the Anti-Virus databases for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 Personal, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 Personal PRO and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations you may have the problem when you cannot enable Protection against Network Attacks. To rectify the problem, do the following:

  • open the explorer: right-click Start in the down right corner of the screen > select Explore in the drop-down menu


  • in the explorer address line enter C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers
  • click the Enter button on the keyboard
  • explorer will open the C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers folder



  • in the open folder find the files klick.vxd and klin.vxd
  • create the report of GetSystemInfo: How to create a report file using GetSysteminfo utility
  • fill in the HelpDesk form, do not forget to give detailed description of your problem and the date of the anti-virus databases last update in this form

  • attach the GetSystemInfo report and the files klick.sys, klin.sys to the form
  •  

    Note: the problem may also arise if you update from a local folder into which you have downloaded and saved databases of network attacks (manually or by the Kaspersky Lab’s product, in which protection against network attacks is not included). In this case update the Anti-Virus databases from the local update folder with the correct structure.
