Possible problems while adding a license key file.

  • While adding a license key file you may face some problems. You will find the solutions to the problems below:

    01. Error “Attention! License key was damaged and cannot be installed”



    Solution:

    - make sure you have the latest version of the antivirus pack installed (this information is available in the Kaspersky Anti-Virus main window > Support > Product Info, and the number of the latest version is available on www.kaspersky.com > Downloads > Product Downloads) if the number of your version does not coincide with the number of the latest version on the site, you need to upgrade your Kaspersky Anti-Virus (you can read more detailed about how to upgrade Kaspersky Anti-Virus in the link: How to upgrade Kaspersky Anti-Virus version)

    - make sure that the system date installed on your computer is correct and corresponds the current date. Incorrect date may lead to errors when adding a license key file.

    - if the previous recommendations did not help, please fill in the HelpDesk form and attach the description of the problem and the key file to the form, and it will be checked. If the license key is really damaged, it will be changed if you confirm the purchase of the license key of Kaspersky Anti-Virus (date and place of purchase)

    Note: key files provided in different print versions and pirate key files cannot be changed.

    02. Error “Attention! License key cannot be installed because it is not compatible with the application "Kaspersky Anti-Virus"



    Solution:

    - make sure that the key file you try to add is for the antivirus pack you have installed: typification of keys for version 5.0 is very strict and trying to add a license key file for another antivirus pack you will keep receiving such error.

    03. You are using the computer that does not have the drive to read the discs

    In this case there are several ways to rectify the problem:

    - read the contents of the disc on another computer that has the corresponding drive, copy it on any other carrier whose contents can be read on your computer (CD, flash card etc.) and when installing Kaspersky Anti-Virus on your computer, specify this carrier as a resource of license keys (you can read detailed about the choice of the license key resource in the section License key installation)

    - read the contents of the disc on another computer that has the corresponding drive, send the license key file on your e-mail, receive the letter on your computer and save it in any folder on a hard drive and when installing Kaspersky Anti-Virus on your computer specify this folder as a source of license keys (you can read more detailed about the choice of key files source in the section License key installation)

    - send the information from the registration card (date and place of purchase Kaspersky Anti-Virus, full registration number) and the description of the problem on onlinesales@kaspersky.com. Managers from the sales department will be able to send you the license file on your e-mail address.
