If HTTP or FTP servers or local servers or folders specified by the user are used as the update source. If you select this option, you must create a list of sources with current sets of updates. To do so, click the Modify button. If several resources are specified as update sources, the application will attempt to connect to them one after another, starting from the top of the list, and retrieve the updates from the first available source. The order of the sources in the list can be changed as well.
If the resources that you selected from the list are unavailable, the Kaspersky Lab update servers can be used as the update source. To enable this feature, select the Use Kaspersky Lab's update servers if custom servers or network folders are not accessible checkbox.

In the Update setting section set the working mode for the task: only check for available critical application modules updates or download and install critical application modules updates.
After the patch installation, server reboot might be required. Not to terminate work of the applications launched on the server, clear the box Allow system reboot and system reboot will be delayed.
Irrespective of the selected task mode you can get information about available application modules updates. For it check the box Receive information about available application modules updates
If you checked this box, configure receiving notifications about new Maintenance Packs: in the Anti-Virus Console > right-click the Kaspersky Anti-Virus node > choose the event New application modules updates are available > in the section Notify administrators choose the necessary notification method. This notification will have the link to the page of the Kaspersky Lab’s site with the necessary information about how to install the Maintenance Pack.

By default it is supposed that Firewall is enabled in the LAN and the passive mode is used to connect with FTP-servers. That is why the box Use passive FTP mode if possible is checked by default. Clear this box if you use active FTP mode.
Proxy-server parameters depend either on the proxy-server (if it is used or not) or on the selected update source:
- Kaspersky Lab’s update servers is chosen
If you use a proxy-server to get access to the Internet, check the box Use specified proxy-server parameters to connect to Kaspersky Lab’s update servers. Clear the box if you do not use the proxy-server.
- Kaspersky Administration Server is chosen
With this update source selected the Administration Agent installed on the protected server performs the update. No additional setting of the proxy-parameters by this update scenario is required.
If you checked the box Use Kaspersky Lab's update servers if custom servers or network folders are not accessible and you establish connection with the Internet using the proxy-server, in this case you should also check the box Use specified proxy-server parameters to connect to Kaspersky Lab’s update servers.
- Custom HTTP, FTP-servers or network folders is chosen
If connection with the above mentioned sources is established via a proxy-server in this case check Use specified proxy server settings for custom servers. If the list of update servers contains LAN resources then check the box By pass proxy server for local addresses so that when establishing connection parameters of the proxy-server would not be considered.
If you checked the box Use Kaspersky Lab's update servers if custom servers or network folders are not accessible and you establish connection with the Internet using the proxy-server, in this case you should also check the box Use specified proxy-server parameters to connect to Kaspersky Lab’s update servers.
If you use a proxy to connect to the update source, then:
