Concerning to Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition

The Anti-Virus should be updated on regular basis to perform full server protection. It is vitally important to download from Kaspersky Lab’s servers the databases updates with signatures (identifiers) of already known malicious programs as well patches to resolve vulnerabilities in the application. Databases updates are released by the virus analytics of Kaspersky Labs hourly and critical patches are released as required. Kaspersky Anti-Virus can download and install these updates in the automatic mode.

Release of Maintenance Packs for the anti-virus application is another kind of updates. Maintenance Packs should be downloaded and installed by the administrator of the protected server manually.

To download all kinds of updates Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition has four system update tasks:

  • Application database update

This task downloads and installs databases updates.

  • Database update rollback

Before updating the Anti-Virus databases, a backup copy is created of them. If the update download is interrupted or produces an error, Anti-Virus automatically returns to using the previous version of the databases. In addition, you can roll back the databases used by the application, for example, if they are corrupted.

When installing new updates the application checks new databases and if necessary starts the rollback task itself.

  • Application modules update

This task downloads and installs critical patches for the Anti-Virus. Using the task administrator can get information about release of regular updates. This information contains a link to the page with the description of the Maintenance Pack and recommendations how to install and download the Pack.

InformationTo rollback installation of application modules manually, use the Control Panel component Add or Remove Programs.

  • Updates distribution

This task is useful if several computers are protected by Kaspersky Labs applications in the corporate network and Kaspersky Administration Kit is not implemented in the network. As a result of the task execution necessary databases and patches are downloaded and saved into the specified folder. Other protected computers shou;d be configured to update from this update folder.
