Concerning to:
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition (all builds)
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition uses iSwift technology which allows excluding a file from the scan, if the file has not been modified since the previous scan. The file fidbox.dat which is created by Kaspersky Anti-Virus in the system folder %windir%\system32\drivers contains the information about not infected objects already scanned by Kaspersky Anti-Virus. I.e. the more files Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition has scanned the bigger size the file fidbox.dat acquires. The file stores only actual information about files really existing in the system – if any file is deleted, the information about this file is deleted from the file fidbox.dat too.

If necessary the file can be reset manually or via a command prompt (beginning from application version 6.0 MP2).

To reset the file manually, do the following:

    1. Stop Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition either via the product console or by running the following command in the command prompt:

    net stop kavfs

    2. Unload the file interceptor driver by running the following command in the command prompt:

    net stop klif

    3. Delete the file fidbox.dat.

Information Pay attention, this file has the “hidden” attribute.

    4. Load the file interceptor driver by running the following command in the command prompt:

    net start klif

    5. Run Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition either via the console or by running the following command in the command prompt:

    net start kavfs

    Warning Important:

      • no anti-virus protection is running since the moment when Kaspersky Anti-Virus is stopped till the anti-virus protection is enabled.
      • Once the file fidbox.dat is reset the load on the server from Kaspersky Anti-Virus may increase as all files accessed for the first time since fidbox.dat reset will be scanned by the anti-virus application. After the scan information about the scanned objects will be added again to the file fidbox.dat and if you access this file a second time, the iSwift technology will skip it during the scan if the file has not been modified.
