On the 31st March, 2009 Kaspersky Lab announces release of Critical Fix 7 for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition MP2. Critical Fix 7 is released as an autopatch.
Critical Fix 7 fixes the following errors:
- The option of detecting and deleting new types of threats, which use the technologies of masking and protecting infected files without rebooting the server, has been added. The product will be granted access to the files being masked even if the threat has maximum privileges within the system.

- The update subsystem error, which could freeze the update task, has been fixed.
- The error in report subsystem operation has been fixed. Product startup returns an error if a multibyte-code language is selected as language for programs, which do not support Unicode.
- The script scan error, which resulted in incorrect execution of some Java scenarios, has been fixed.
- The error in encrypted script processing, which led to the failure of script execution, has been fixed.
- The error in processing of scripts executed by Microsoft Internet Explorer, has been fixed. As a result, a notification about the DCOM error, EventID 10016 appeared in Windows system event log when scanning the scripts. This issue may only be encountered when using the Microsoft Windows Server 2008 operating system and if the protected mode is enabled in Microsoft Internet Explorer settings.
- The script scan process has been optimized; as a result, the possible delay when displaying web pages with scripts, has been significantly decreased.
- The problem in synchronization of roaming profiles has been definitively solved.
- A compatibility with NETIQ APP Manager error which could lead to NETIQ APP Manager failure was fixed.
- The error of defining the file paths located on the network drives connected to the session has been fixed. The error resulted in incorrect display of ways in task reports which led to failure of execution of exclusion rules for such files.
Critical Fix 7 can be installed:
- automatically, by running Application modules update task of the Anti-Virus.
For it in the Application modules update task on the General tab in the Update settings section select the variant Download and install critical application modules updates. Either Administration Server of Kaspersky Administration Kit or any other resource can be an update source.
1. Download the patch compatible with your Anti-Virus version (32-bit or 64-bit)
2. Right-click the downloaded file and in the context menu select Apply.
Pay attention, that:
- Critical Fix 7 cannot be installed via the remote install task of Kaspersky Administration Kit 6.0.
- During the patch installation, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition MP2 will be stopped and the server will not be protected for some time!
- If the files subject to change are blocked by other applications, computer restart may be required after patch installation.
After the patch installation:
- the application version will not change, but the record about CriticalFix7(KB2015) will be added to the list of installed patches.
- the version of the file fsdrvplg.ppl will change to 6.0.2.564.
- version of the klif.sys file will change to 8.1.0.60;
- version numbers of the following files will change to 6.0.2.566:

- kavfs.exe
- kavfswp.exe
- odssrc.dll
- oassrc.dll
- scandll.dll
- avpgsm.ppl
- avscan.dll
- nfio.dll
- avp1.ppl
- avpmgr.ppl

To view information about patches installed for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition MP2, open the Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs item on the server, and check the Show updates box. Information about Critical Fix 7 will be displayed in the Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition MP2 section.
