Viruses and solutions

In this section you will find recommendations how to fight malicious programs which cannot be disinfected by Kaspersky Lab’s products. In order to disinfect/remove malicious programs you may have to modify the system registry or use an additional utility. If you failed to find the necessary information or you find these recommendations too complicated or inadequate, please send a request to the Technical Support service via the HelpDesk form.

Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations warns me that my computer has been attacked by the Helkern virus. What do I do about these Helkern attacks?

Concerning to:
  • Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 (versions 6.0.0.299 - 6.0.0.303)
  • Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 MP1 (version 6.0.1.411)
  • Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 MP2 (versions 6.0.2.614, 6.0.2.621)
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations MP2 (version 6.0.2.678)
  • You can receive such messages from Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 and from Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations. This warning window informs you that Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 successfully repulsed the Helkern attack and there is no more danger for you PC. You can find the description of this virus in the link: Net-Worm.Win32.Helkern.

    Remember: if you are not running MS SQL server on your PC, this virus cannot do any harm to your computer.

    You can disable display of these informational windows the following way: 

    • open the main application window 
    • click the Settings button 
    • in the left part of the window select Service 
    • in the right part of the window in the section Interaction with the user click the Advanced button 
    • in the list of Critical notifications find an event Hacker attack detection 
    • uncheck this event in the Balloon section
    • click the OK to close each window 
    • minimize the main application window

    InformationThe dialog windows for Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations are the same but with corresponding dialog windows.
