Concerning to Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS
Different kinds of events occur in Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS. They can be of an informative nature or contain important information. For example, an event can inform you that the program has updated successfully or can record an error in a component that must be immediately eliminated. During the program operation, the following kinds of events arise:
Critical notifications:
- Detection of viruses, worms, Trojans, hack tools - notifies the user about a virus, trojan or worm detected on your PC
- Detection of possibly infected object – notifies the user about detection of possibly infected object
- Disinfection impossible – notifies the user that disinfection of an infected object is by some reasons impossible
- License has expired - notifies the user about an expired license and give recommendations how to prolong it
- Threat signatures are obsolete - notifies the user about obsolete signatures
Error notifications:
- License is missing, corrupted or blacklisted – notifies the user about a probably annulled or corrupted license. The notification is displayed also in case if the product has not been activated.
- Update error - notifies the user the update process was completed with an error
- Task cannot execute – notifies the user the task fails to be executed by some reasons
- Threat signatures are missing or corrupted – notifies the user about either missing or corrupted signatures.
Important notifications:
- Detection of adware, Spyware, etc. - notifies the user about joke-programs, adware and other unwanted programs detected on your PC
- License is about to expire - notifies the user that a license expires soon. The notification appears if the license expires in less than a fortnight. If a license expires in 7 days this notification refers not to important but to critical events.
- Other important events - notifies the user by a recommendation to scan the computer for viruses; notifies the user that the system functions in the safe mode; notifies the user that some malicious objects have been detected on the computer; notifies the user that the PC should be restarted.
- Threat signatures are out of date - notifies the user about obsolete signatures. Notification about obsolete signatures appears if signatures have not been updated for 1 or 7 days.
Minor notifications:
- Disinfection/Removal of infected objects - notifies the user about disinfection\deletion of an infected object
- Object quarantined – notifies the user that the object has been quarantined
- Password-protected archive – notifies the user about detection of password-protected archive
- Update completion - notifies the user that the update process was completed successfully
To enable\disable notifications about Events, do the following:
- Open the main application window of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS
- Click Settings in the upper menu
- Go to the Service section
- In the right part of the window in the Interaction with user section enable\disable Enable notifications
- Click OK
- Minimize the main window of Kaspersky Anti-Virus version 6.0
The following settings are predefined for each event:
- Balloon – displays the notification message on the screen
- Email – notifies the user about an event by e-mail
- Sound – accompanies notification by a sound file
- Log – logs Events to Windows Events Log or to a separate event log of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS
To edit the settings, do the following:
- Open the main application window of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS
- Click Settings in the upper menu
- Go to the Service section
- In the right part of the window in the Interaction with user section click Advanced, configure the necessary settings for each event
- In the open dialog window Notification settings configure the necessary settings for each event
- Click OK in each window
- Minimize the main window of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0
Once the Balloon option is disabled, the Sound option is not available any more. If want to disable all options or only the Sound option for an event, disable the Sound option first.
In Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS you can also set up notification delivery via e-mail. The following options can be set up\changed:
- From: E-mail address – enter email address of a notifications’ sender
- SMTP server – enter name of the SMTP server
- Port – enter port which will send notifications from the computer on which Kaspersky Anti-Virus version 6.0 is installed • Account name – enter user’s name
- Password – enter the password of the installed Kaspersky Anti-Virus version 6.0
- To: E-mail address - enter email address of a notifications’ recipient
- Send mode: Immediately when event occurs – sends notifications by mail immediately when event occurs
- Send mode: Every 1 day(s) - set up a schedule to send notification by mail irrespective of when event occurs
To log events to an events log choose either:
- Application – saves all events of Kaspersky Anti-Virus version 6.0 to Windows Events Log
- Kaspersky Event Log – saves all events to Kaspersky Event Log
Windows Event Log cannot be kept on computers running under Windows 98/ME, and Kaspersky Event Log cannot be kept on computers running under Windows NT 4.0. These restrictions are conditioned by working peculiarities of these operating systems.
To change the settings, do the following:
- Open the main application window of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS
- Click Settings in the upper menu
- Go to the Service section
- In the right part of the window in the Interaction with user section click Advanced
- In the open Notification settings window check Email and Log boxes for the necessary notification
- Click Email settings
- Configure the necessary settings
Pay attention to send notifications via some mail servers your e-mail address should be given fully in the field Account name as in the field From: E-mail address.
- Click OK
- Click Log settings
- Select the necessary log type to log the events
- Click OK in each window
