On the 12th of September, 2007 Kaspersky lab announces commercial release of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS (build 6.0.3.818).
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS is intended to scan the computer on demand of the user/administrator for infected objects to further disinfect/delete these objects. The main difference of the application from
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations is that Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS does not include components responsible for the real-time protection.
This application is recommended for use on workstations on which fully functional third party anti-virus software is installed. This application does not include components responsible for the real-time protection which allows avoiding conflicts when running simultaneously with the main anti-virus you are using.
Co-use of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS with third party anti-virus software increases the level of your computer protection.
How Kaspersky Anti-Virus SOS operates on workstations with third party anti-virus software installed
The product demonstrates top malicious program detection, high performance, frequent database updates and remote management (ease of use for administrators) (via the Kaspersky Administration Kit complex).
To manage Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS via Kaspersky Administration Kit 6.0 install the Anti-Virus control plug-in on the Administration Console. For it on all computers with the installed Administration Console via which Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS will be managed run the file klcfginst.exe from the Anti-Virus distributive.
Kaspersky Lab does not recommend using Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS as the only anti-virus protection software on your computer as it does not ensure comprehensive protection of your computer against malware.
