Possible problems after installation of Service Pack 3 for Windows XP on computer with Kaspersky Lab product installed

  • Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0\7.0\2009
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0\7.0\2009
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations (all versions)
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS
  • With Windows XP and Kaspersky Lab’s product version 6.0\7.0\2009 installed on your PC, the following problems might appear after installation of Service Pack 3 for Windows XP

    • a large number of damaged records occur in the system registry 
    • network cards are not displayed in the Device Manager and in the properties of Network connections 
    • the Task manager window is empty and does not contain information about running programs and processes

    Resolution: Kaspersky Lab’s experts recommend disabling self-security of products version 6.07.0/2009 before installing Service Pack 3 for Windows XP:

    How to disable self-protection in version 2009:

    • open the main application windows 
    • click the Settings button > select Protection
    • in the right part of the window clear the box Enable protection
    • click OK
    • minimize the main application window

     

     

    How to disable self-protection in version 7.0:

    • open the main application window
    • click Settings > select Service 
    • in the right part of the window clear the box Enable protection
    • click OK
    • minimize the main application window

     

     

    How to disable self-protection in version 6.0: 

    • open the main application window
    • click Settings > select Service 
    • in the right part of the window clear the box Enable protection
    • click OK
    • minimize the main application window

     

     

    After installation of Service Pack 3 and PC restart you can enable self-protection of the product.
