Concerning to:
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 SOS
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations MP5 (builds 5.0.676 - 5.0.712)
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations MP4 (builds 5.0.527 - 5.0.528)
  • Backup storage is a special storage that contains backup copies of the objects detected by Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations as infected. Backup copy is created during the object scan. The main function of the backup storage is to restore the original object at any time. To start working with the backup object, do the following

  • Go to Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations > Protection > View Backup
  • Start working with the backup objects in the open window

The list of the backup copies is in the central part of the window. The information for each copy is the following: name, date of placement and path. You can restore the copy or several chosen copies to the original location (Working with the Backup and Quarantine settings in Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations) or delete them by corresponding buttons right of the list. The objects restore from the backup copy with the authentic name. If in the original location there is another object with the same name (it may be the copy of the same object), a corresponding message will appear on the screen. You can either relocate or rename the object.

Sometimes when the object is cured its integrity can not be saved. If the cured file contained some valuable information and it became fully or partly not available you can try to restore the original object from its backup copy. It is recommended to scan the object for viruses after it has been restored. Perhaps with the bases updated it will be possible to make its full restoration.

By default the date of backup copies saving as well as the size of the backup copy storage are unlimited. We recommend you look through the storage and clean it periodically. You can also configure the program to delete the oldest copies or to inform you of the storage overflow.
