The user can manage scanning priority both in Kaspersky Anti-Virus 4.xxx and in Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations MP4 (5.0.527).
Scanning is managed via GUI (graphical user interface) of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations.
To change the scanning priority via GUI, do the following:
- go to Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations > Settings > Additional Settings
- in the Additional settings window go to the Efficiency tab
- in the System load limit during the anti-virus scan section click the Pause anti-virus scan when the system load exceeds checkbox and set the necessary value from 0 to 100 (the set value is the system load on the file system from other applications, when the limit is exceeded Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 decreases the scan activity)
- close the window by clicking OK
- minimize the Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations main window
To change the scanning priority using the policy of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations (if Kaspersky Administration Kit is used), do the following:
- open the necessary policy of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations/ File Servers
- go to the Additional tab
- on the tab click the Troubleshooting options button
- in the open window in the section Optimization parameters check Limit processor load and enter the necessary value from 0 to 100 (the set value is the load level on the file system from other applications. When the load comes critically close to the set value Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 reduces its scanning activity)
- lock the Optimization parameters section
- close each window by clicking the OK button
