Concerning to:

  • Various notification messages can be displayed with Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0\ Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 installed. These messaged might be of informational character or display some important info. For example a notification might notify about a successful update or might log an error in the work of an incorrect component which must be fixed urgently. All events are subdivided into three event types. Each notification type include the following events:

    Critical notifications: 

    • Detection of viruses, worms, Trojans, hack tools – notifies the user about a virus, Trojan or a hack tool detected on the PC 
    • Detection of possibly infected object - notifies the user about a possibly infected object detected on the PC
    • Disinfection impossible - notifies the user that an infected object cannot be disinfected 
    • License key validity period has expired - notifies the user about an expired license validity and gives recommendations how to prolong the license 
    • Hacker attack detection - notifies the user about hacker attack detection (only for Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0)
    • Database is obsolete - notifies the user about obsolete databases 
    • Parental control - notifies the user about rules triggering for the Parental Control component

    Functional failure 

    • Key is missing, corrupted or blacklisted - notifies the user the license which is missing or corrupted. Or the product has not been activated at all. 
    • Update error - notifies the user about an update error 
    • Task can not execute - notifies the user that a task cannot be executed by some reasons
    • Database is missing or corrupted – notifies the user about missing or corrupted databases

    Important notifications: 

    • Detection of adware, Spyware, etc - notifies the user about detection of adware, Spyware and pornware on the computer
    • License key expires soon - notifies the user that the license expires soon. Notification is displayed if the license expiration period is less than 14 or more than 7 days. If the license expires in less than 7 days the notification type changes to critical. 
    • Other important events - recommends the user to scan the computer for viruses; notifies the user that the system functions in safe mode; notifies about malicious objects being detected on the computer; notifies the user about the system reboot. 
    • Not processed malicious objects – notifies the user about not processed malicious objects on the computer 
    • Scan of My Computer has not been performed – notifies the user that full computer scan has not been performed or the computer was scanned long ago 
    • Database is out of date – notifies the user that the database is out of date. The notification is displayed if the difference between the release date and the current date varies from 1 to 7 days. 
    • Self-Defense messages – notifies the user that third-party applications try to get access to the program files and processes. 
    • Reboot is required – notifies the user that the reboot is required fort he correct work of the application 
    • Parental control - notifies the user about rules triggering for the Parental Control component

    Minor notifications: 

    • Disinfection of infected objects - notifies the user about a disinfected infected object 
    • Removal of infected objects - notifies the user about a removal of infected objects 
    • Object quarantined -notifies the user about a quarantined object 
    • Password-protected archive detected - notifies the user about password-protected archive detected 
    • Update completion - notifies the user about successful update completion
    • Enabling/disabling protection components - notifies the user about enabling/disabling protection components or the whole protection system 
    • Firewall rule triggering - notifies the user about Firewall rule triggering which were created for the Firewall component (for Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 only) 
    • Popup windows blocking - notifies the user about popup windows blocking 
    • Protocol messages – messages from the plug-in which filters the traffic by protocols

    To enable\disable Events notifications, do the following: 

    • open the main application window 
    • click the Settings button 
    • click Appearance in the open window
    • in the right part of the window in the Events notification section check\clear Enable notifications 
    • click OK 
    • minimize the main application window

     

    The following settings are predefined for each event: 

    • Balloon – displays notification on the screen 
    • E-mail – notifies about an event by e-mail 
    • Sound – plays a sound when notifying about an event 
    • Log – logs all program events to Windows Event Log or to the program event log

    In order to change these settings, do the following: 

    • open the main application window 
    • click the Settings button 
    • click Appearance in the open window 
    • in the right part of the window in the Events notification section click the Advanced button 
    • in the open Events notification settings window check the necessary settings for each notification 
    • click OK in each window 
    • minimize the main application window

     

     

    Information If you disable the Balloon option for any event, the Sound option cannot be disabled after it. If want to disable all options or only the Sound option for an event, first disable the Sound option.

    In Kaspersky Lab products version 7.0 you can get event notifications by e-mail or log them in the event log. The following options can be changed\ set: 

    • From: Email address – in this field enter the e-mail address of the notification sender 
    • SMTP server – in this filed enter the address of the mail SMTP server 
    • Port – port to send notifications from the computer with Kaspersky Anti-Virus version 7.0 installed 
    • Account name – user account who works on the computer with Kaspersky Anti-Virus version 7.0 
    • Password – enter the password of Kaspersky Anti-Virus version 7.0 installed 
    • To: Email address – enter the notifications recipient address 
    • Send mode: Immediately when event occurs – sending notifications by e-mail immediately when event occurs
    • Send mode: Every 1 day(s) – allows setting the schedule to send notifications by e-mail irrespective when an event occurred

    To write events to the log, choose the necessary log type: 

    • Application – saves all events of Kaspersky Anti-Virus version 7.0 into Windows Event Log 
    • Kaspersky Event Log – saves all events into log of Kaspersky Anti-Virus version 7.0

    Information On a computer running Windows 98\ME Windows Event Log cannot be kept, and if a computer is running Windows NT 4.0 Kaspersky Event Log (log of Kaspersky Anti-Virus version 7.0) cannot be kept. These restrictions are peculiarities of the mentioned operating systems.

    In order to change the settings, do the following:

    • open the main application window 
    • click the Settings button 
    • choose Appearance in the left part of the window 
    • in the right part of the window in the Events notification section click the Advanced button 
    • In the open dialog window Events notification settings check the boxes E-Mail and Log for the events which should be sent by e-mail and \or logged 
    • click the Email settings button
    • make the necessary settings to send the notifications 
    • click the OK button 
    • click the Select log button 
    • choose the log type to save the notifications into
    • click OK to close each window 
    • minimize the main application window

    Information The dialog windows for Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 are the same but with corresponding product names and the number of components in the Protection menu
