Concerning to Kaspersky Administration Kit 6.0 MP1

Sometimes when:

  • Client discs with the Network Agent installed are cloned
  • computers are located from a workgroup to a domain and back
  • computers with the same name are assigned to different domains
  • a computer has two operating systems and one name

"clones" may appear in the network – i.e. two records correspond to one physical computer. In this case the name conflicts arise and then “~1 (~2, ~3)” (etc) is added to a computer name. In this case only Agent of one computer connects with the Server.

Administration Agent version 6.0 can prevent the conflict of names when cloning a hard disc with the installed Agent. To avoid the conflict each time the Agent is started it reads the computer’s MAC-address and hard disk identifiers and compares them with the data saved previously. If the data do not coincide the computer is considered to be a clone and special actions are taken to rectify the conflict.

If the conflict has still occurred, do the following, to find and delete the “clones”:

1. right click Administration Server > Find computer

2. in the Computer Windows name field enter NetBIOS-name of computer with asterisk (*)

InformationEnter computer name with capital letters.

For example, if the computer name is COMPUTER, enter it as COMPUTE*:

3. Analyze the received list and delete unnecessary computers from groups in the logical network and from the Network group.

4. Rename the remained computer.
