How to go from version 5.0 to 6.0

Recommendations how to upgrade complex components:

1. Download the Kaspersky Administration Kit 6.0 distributive from the Kaspersky Lab sites. The distributive consists of several files:

    • kasp6.0.1405_adminkiten.exe - Kaspersky Administration Kit 6.0 installer (build 6.0.1405)
    • kasp6.0.1405_netagentmsien.exe - MSI-installer of Network Agent version 6.0.1405.
    • kasp5.0.0474_netagenten.exe – installer of Network Agent version 5.0.0474 to manage Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.6 for ISA Servers 2000 Enterprise Edition remotely

2. Create the back up copy of the Administration Kit database using the klbackup.exe utility or Create backup of Administration Server task.

InformationTo restore the Administration Server data, save the Server certificate (it concerns Administration Server versions 5.0.0474 and below only – in later versions the certificate is saved automatically).

3. On the computer- Administration Server install the component MDAC version 2.8 (or above).

4. Run Kaspersky Administration Kit 6.0 installer on the computer with the Administration Server installed and upgrade the Administration Server version. Backward compatibility is supported between the newer and older versions of the Administration Server. All data of the older (current) version of the Administration Server will be saved during the update to the new version.

5. Run Kaspersky Administration Kit 6.0 installer on other administrators’’ workstations (computers with the Console installed without the Server) to update the version of the Administration Console. When installing uncheck Kaspersky Administration Server in the Select components window.

Open the Console, connect to the Server and check if the policies and tasks have been updated correctly.

If the Server was updated not successfully, reinstall the Administration Server and restore the backup copy of the Server database.

6. Create a group or a global task for installing the Network Agent 6.0.1405 on the computers within the corporate network. Run this task manually or according to the schedule. After this task is successfully completed the current version of the Network Agent will be updated on the client computers.

WarningBeginning from Kaspersky Administration Kit 6.0 the Network Agent installed via MSI can be updated by any means (locally, by product deployment task, etc.)!

WarningTo manage Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.6 for ISA Servers 2000 Enterprise Edition remotely Network Agent 5.0.0474 should be installed on the ISA-server.

WarningTo manage Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.7 for Novell NetWare remotely, a special build of the Network Agent from Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.7 for Novell NetWare should be installed on the NetWare-server.
