1. Installing
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.7 for Novell Netware on NetWare-server(s) or an array of servers is installed manually using the product distributive. Kaspersky Administration Kit does not allow install/uninstall this application in a remote way.
2. Connecting to the Administration Server
Irrespective of the number of the NetWare-servers in the net, whether they create an array or not, all applications “Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Novell NetWare” installed should be connected to the Administration Server. To do it, install module for managing through Kaspersky Administration Kit (next install the Administration Agent) Administration Agent on all NetWare-servers and add these machines to the logical net as Clients.
Administration Agent for Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Novell Netware is a part of the distributive and can be installed with the application. You cannot use the Agent from the Kaspersky Administration Kit 6.0 distributive.
You can install the Agent later (after the Anti-Virus has been installed). For it run the installation for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.7 for Novell Netware once again and when selecting the setup components choose module for managing through Kaspersky Administration Kit only.
Unlike Administration Agent for Windows-products, module for managing Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.7 for Novell Netware through Kaspersky Administration Kit does not maintain function of the traffic compression and does not protect the traffic using SSL.
If NetWare-servers are united in a cluster, then the virtual server can be connected to the logical network only if the Active-Passive cluster is used. In any other mode the Network Agent will not be detected by the Administration Server. To manage Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.7 for Novell Netware, install the management plug-in for this application on all Administration Consoles, through which Kaspersky Anti-Virus is going to be managed.
For it run the file klcfginst.exe from the Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Novell Netware distributive on every computer with the Console installed. Before installing the Plug-in, close the Console.
3. Configuring the Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.7 for Novell Netware settings
Kaspersky Anti-Virus can be configured the following ways:
- in the properties of a client computer, on which Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.7 for Novell Netware is installed, on the Applications tab > select Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.7 for Novell Netware in the list of the installed applications and click the Properties button.
- via the policy for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.7 for Novell Netware.
4. Tasks of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.7 for Novell Netware
Global and group real-time protection, on-demand scan, update and install key file tasks can be created for this application.
The Anti-Virus tasks are managed on the Tasks tab of the client computer on which Kaspersky Anti-Virus is installed.
The folders located on the NetWare-server can be defined only when configuring tasks from the Anti-Virus local interface (as it has no remote access to the file system of the NetWare-server).
Start of tasks under specified account is not supported.
5. Anti-Virus database updating
The antivirus database update tasks for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.7 for Novell Netware can be created as local, global and/or group. Kaspersky Administration Kit can be chosen as an update source – in this case the updates files are copied from the update storage to the Administration Server and are delivered on the file server by Network Agent installed on the NetWare server.
The update task can also download new anti-virus databases from the Kaspersky Lab’s servers in Internet or from any http-, ftp- source.
Network folder can be chosen as an update source if the update task is configured from the Anti-Virus local interface (as it has no remote access to the file system of the NetWare-server).
The technology of pus-update, added to Kaspersky Administration Kit, is not maintained in Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.7 for Novell Netware.
